Shure SLXD25+/58-G57 Portable Wireless System

The Shure SLXD25+/58-G57 is a portable digital wireless handheld system built for camera-mounted, audio-bag, ENG, field-production, and location-sound workflows. It pairs the compact SLXD5+ receiver with an SLXD2+/58 handheld transmitter fitted with an SM58 cardioid dynamic microphone capsule. The G57 version operates across the 470–608 MHz frequency range. It provides a practical wireless vocal solution when a cable between the talent and camera or recorder is not desirable.

This system is well suited to videographers, production crews, presenters, interviewers, and live-event teams needing a handheld microphone with portable receiver operation. The receiver can mount to a camera cold shoe or travel in an audio bag, while its 3.5 mm outputs support camera and headphone connections. A 100 m operating range gives crews flexibility when positioning talent and equipment. Multi-Mic Mode adds tools for scanning, syncing, and monitoring multiple sources from one receiver.

Its digital wireless platform delivers 24-bit audio with a specified dynamic range of more than 118 dB. System audio response is rated at 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and latency is specified at 2.8 ms. The included SM58 capsule uses a cardioid pattern to focus on the intended voice while reducing pickup from the sides and rear. Its vocal-oriented response makes it appropriate for speech, interviews, and performance-oriented applications.

Shure's SLX-D+ platform combines wideband RF operation with Automatic Setup and ShowLink Ease control. Once linked, compatible SLX-D+ transmitters and receivers can remain connected while the system handles RF interference and available-frequency changes. AES-256 encryption is installed for secure transmissions, while Digital Feedback Reducer processing is built into the receiver. Wireless Workbench desktop software and the WWB Mobile app provide additional monitoring and control options.

The SLXD25+/58-G57 is designed as a portable starting point within the SLX-D+ ecosystem. The included receiver supports balanced mono and dual-mono camera-output modes, plus a dedicated headphone monitoring output. It can run from two AA batteries, an optional Shure SB903 rechargeable battery, or 5 V USB-C power. That flexibility lets it adapt to compact camera rigs, field bags, and mobile production setups.

Design & Installation

The SLXD5+ receiver uses an aluminum housing and measures 4.21 x 2.68 x 1 inch, helping it fit compact production rigs. The SLXD2+ handheld transmitter also uses an aluminum housing and measures 6.93 inches long with a 1.46-inch diameter. The supplied leather protective sleeve includes an integrated belt clip, and the package includes a WA311 non-conductive cold-shoe mount adapter for the receiver.

Mount the receiver to a camera shoe with the supplied adapter or place it in an audio bag, then connect its 3.5 mm camera output to a compatible camera, recorder, or audio input using an appropriate cable. Use the separate 3.5 mm headphone output for monitoring, and select balanced mono or dual-mono camera output as needed. Power the receiver and transmitter with the included AA batteries, optional SB903 rechargeable batteries, or USB-C power for the receiver, then link and sync the system before use.
