Shure BLX1288/CVL-H10 Dual Wireless Microphone System

The Shure BLX1288/CVL-H10 is a dual-channel UHF wireless microphone system built for presentations, vocal performance, worship spaces, classrooms, and event production. It combines a handheld PG58-equipped transmitter and a CVL lavalier/bodypack setup with one BLX88 dual receiver. This provides two distinct microphone options in one coordinated system while reducing cable clutter around a stage or speaking area.

The handheld transmitter is suited to traditional vocal use, while the CVL lavalier supports hands-free speech reinforcement. That combination can be useful where one person needs to present while another needs a handheld microphone, or where a single event requires flexible microphone choices. The included BLX88 receiver manages both wireless channels from a single component.

For system performance, the BLX platform provides an audio frequency response of 50 Hz to 15 kHz, dependent on the connected microphone. Its specified line-of-sight working range is up to 300 feet, although actual range depends on RF absorption, reflections, and interference in the venue. Both transmitters operate for up to 14 hours on two AA alkaline batteries.

The H10 version operates in the 542–572 MHz frequency band and uses 10 mW typical transmitter output. One-touch group scanning helps locate an available group and channel, while the BLX88 uses microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity. Front-panel audio indicators show normal audio in green and overload conditions in red.

The receiver provides both XLR and 1/4-inch audio outputs for connection to a mixer, amplifier, or compatible sound system. For larger setups, up to 12 BLX systems can operate simultaneously when the frequency band and local RF environment allow it. Additional BLX components must use matching frequency bands for proper operation.

Design & Installation

The BLX88 receiver, BLX1 bodypack, and BLX2 handheld transmitter use molded ABS housings. The bodypack has an adjustable gain control, a TA4 microphone input, and a belt clip arrangement for wearable use. The receiver includes a compact desktop-oriented format with integrated internal antenna diversity.

Connect the supplied PS24 power supply to the receiver, then connect either its XLR or 1/4-inch output to a mixer or amplifier. Run a group scan on the receiver, then set each transmitter to the matching group and channel before performing an audio check. Place the receiver with a clear line of sight where possible, keep it away from metal surfaces and nearby interference sources, and use the bodypack gain control to set the CVL level appropriately.
