Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 50 50-Foot XLR Microphone Cable $259.95
Bundle total: $1,158.95

The Shure GLXD14R+/B98-Z3 is a single-channel digital wireless instrument system built for brass, woodwind, and percussion performance. It combines a rack-mount GLXD4R+ receiver, GLXD1+ bodypack transmitter, and BETA 98H/C clip-on gooseneck instrument microphone. The system helps performers move freely while keeping the microphone positioned close to the instrument.

The included WB98H/C microphone uses a compact clip-on design with an integrated gooseneck, ratcheting swivel, and isolation shock mount. Its cardioid condenser pickup is designed to focus on the instrument while reducing unwanted off-axis sound. The microphone is suited to high-SPL sources including horns, woodwinds, and percussion.

GLX-D+ Dual Band technology operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz spectrum for expanded wireless bandwidth. The system automatically scans available spectrum and selects a suitable channel, while its frequency management can move to a clear channel when interference is detected. Digital transmission supports a 20 Hz to 20 kHz audio frequency response and 120 dB A-weighted dynamic range.

The GLXD1+ bodypack is powered by the included SB904 lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Shure rates the battery for up to 12 hours of runtime, with a quick-charge function that provides up to 1.5 hours of use from a 15-minute charge. The battery can charge in the GLXD4R+ receiver charging bay or through the bodypack USB-C port.

The GLXD4R+ is a half-rack receiver for permanent racks, portable production racks, houses of worship, school venues, and live performance systems. It provides balanced XLR and 1/4-inch audio outputs for connection to a mixer, recorder, or amplifier. For larger coordinated installations, compatible GLXD4R+ receivers can be used with the separately available GLXD+ Frequency Manager.

Key Features

  • Dual-Band Digital Wireless: Operates across 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz spectrum in the Z3 version.
  • BETA 98H/C Clip-On Microphone: Positions directly on compatible brass, woodwind, or percussion instruments.
  • Automatic Frequency Management: Scans spectrum and can transition away from detected interference.
  • Rechargeable SB904 Battery: Delivers up to 12 hours of stated transmitter runtime.
  • Half-Rack Receiver: Fits standard 19-inch equipment racks with supplied mounting hardware.
  • Professional Audio Outputs: Includes balanced XLR and impedance-balanced 1/4-inch output connections.

Design & Installation

The GLXD4R+ receiver uses a steel housing, while the GLXD1+ bodypack combines aluminum alloy and ABS plastic construction. The WB98H/C microphone has a flexible gooseneck, integrated instrument clip, ratcheting swivel joint, and isolation shock mount. Its detachable 1.6 m high-flex cable terminates in a TA4F connector for the bodypack transmitter.

Install the receiver in a standard 19-inch audio rack using the included rack hardware, then connect the two supplied antennas or use the included front-mount antenna hardware where appropriate. Connect the XLR or 1/4-inch output to a mixer, recorder, or amplifier, attach the microphone to the instrument, and connect its TA4F plug to the bodypack. For multi-receiver installations, use the separately available GLXD+ Frequency Manager and compatible antenna accessories as needed.
