Shure GLXD2+/B87A=-Z3 Dual-Band Handheld Wireless Transmitter

The Shure GLXD2+/B87A=-Z3 is a handheld digital wireless transmitter with an integrated BETA 87A vocal microphone. It is designed for singers, presenters, worship teams, and live-sound users who need a wireless handheld mic for a compatible Shure GLX-D+ Dual Band receiver. A receiver is required and sold separately.

The BETA 87A microphone configuration uses a supercardioid electret-condenser vocal capsule with a 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. Its controlled low-frequency response helps manage proximity effect during close vocal use, while the focused pickup pattern helps reduce pickup from surrounding sound sources. The transmitter is suited to clear, detailed vocal reinforcement in live performance and presentation settings.

GLX-D+ Dual Band operation works across the Z3 version's 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency ranges. The system uses automatic frequency management to monitor available spectrum and maintain a linked wireless connection. Shure specifies proprietary digital transmission and up to 10 mW E.I.R.P. RF output power.

An included Shure SB904 lithium-ion rechargeable battery powers the transmitter for up to 11.5 hours under specified conditions. The handheld transmitter has a USB-C charging port, allowing the battery to be charged in the transmitter with a compatible USB power source. A 15-minute charge can provide up to 1.5 hours of runtime in 5.8 GHz mode.

This model is part of the GLX-D+ ecosystem and is intended only for GLX-D+ Dual Band receivers. It is not compatible with earlier GLX-D or GLX-D Advanced wireless receivers. For larger installations, GLX-D+ systems can also be used with the separately available GLX-D+ Frequency Manager where applicable.

Design & Installation

The GLXD2+ handheld combines an aluminum-alloy and ABS-plastic housing with the BETA 87A vocal microphone configuration. It measures 9.69 inches long and weighs 9.3 ounces without its battery. The transmitter uses a status LED, power switch, link button, removable battery cover, and USB-C charging connection.

Use this handheld with a compatible GLX-D+ receiver; it cannot operate as a standalone microphone or with earlier GLX-D receivers. Fully charge the supplied SB904 battery before first use, then link the transmitter to the receiver according to the receiver setup process. For wireless performance, keep receivers away from active Wi-Fi access points, computers, and other nearby 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz sources when practical.
