Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 50 50-Foot XLR Microphone Cable $259.95
Bundle total: $1,188.95

The Shure SLXD24/B87A-H55 is a single-channel digital wireless vocal system built around the SLXD2 handheld transmitter and SLXD4 rackmount receiver. It provides a practical wireless microphone solution for live vocals, presentations, houses of worship, education, meetings, and installed sound systems. The H55 version operates in Shure's 514–558 MHz frequency band, so frequency availability should be verified for the intended location before purchase.

The included SLXD2 transmitter is fitted with a BETA 87A supercardioid condenser vocal capsule. Its focused pickup pattern helps reduce unwanted off-axis sound while supporting close vocal use, and the capsule's controlled low-frequency response helps manage proximity effect. This configuration is well suited to lead and backing vocals where clarity and feedback control are important.

SLX-D uses 24-bit digital wireless audio and digital predictive switching diversity for stable RF operation. The system delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz audio frequency response, 3.2 ms latency, and a typical 118 dB audio dynamic range. Automatic channel scanning and infrared sync simplify finding an available channel and linking the transmitter to the receiver.

The SLXD4 is a single-channel receiver with balanced XLR and 1/4-inch audio outputs, allowing connection to mixers, powered speakers, amplifiers, or installed sound equipment. Its selectable mic/line XLR output and adjustable gain support integration with a variety of audio systems. Ethernet connectivity also supports network setup, group scanning, firmware updates, and compatible Shure control workflows.

For portable operation, the handheld transmitter runs on two AA batteries for up to eight hours, with support for the optional Shure SB903 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The receiver includes rackmount hardware, antennas, and its power supply for a complete starting system. Additional compatible SLX-D transmitters can be added as system needs change, provided only one linked transmitter is operated with this single receiver channel at a time.

Key Features

  • H55 Frequency Band: Operates from 514 to 558 MHz.
  • BETA 87A Capsule: Supercardioid condenser capsule tailored for vocal applications.
  • 24-Bit Digital Audio: Delivers clear wireless audio with low 3.2 ms latency.
  • IR Sync: Quickly links the handheld transmitter and receiver.
  • Rackmount Receiver: Single-channel SLXD4 includes rack installation hardware.
  • AA Or Rechargeable Power: Uses two AA cells or an optional SB903 battery.

Design & Installation

The SLXD4 receiver uses a galvanized-steel housing and measures 1.65 x 7.76 x 5.98 inches, making it suitable for rack installation or tabletop use with the supplied footpads. The SLXD2 handheld transmitter has an aluminum housing, integrated helical antenna, and interchangeable microphone cartridge design. The BETA 87A vocal capsule uses a supercardioid pattern, built-in pop filtering, and a shock-mount system intended to reduce handling and breath noise.

Attach the two supplied antennas to the receiver, connect the included power supply, and run either the balanced XLR or balanced 1/4-inch output to a mixer, powered speaker, amplifier, or other appropriate audio input. Use the receiver's scan function to locate an available channel, then align the transmitter and receiver IR ports to sync them. The receiver may be mounted in a rack using the included hardware, while the microphone can be used with the included clip and powered by two AA batteries or an optional SB903 rechargeable battery.
