The Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 50 is a 50-foot balanced XLR cable built for microphone, line-level, and AES3 digital-audio connections in fixed studio environments. It provides the reach needed to connect microphones, interfaces, preamps, powered speakers, or outboard equipment without changing connector formats. Its XLR male-to-XLR female configuration suits standard balanced audio signal paths.

This cable is intended for recording, mastering, monitoring, and high-end home A/V installations where a long balanced run is required. It is designed with the mastering engineer in mind and is not intended for frequent handling or live-stage use. The 50-foot length is useful for control rooms, vocal booths, equipment racks, and powered-monitor placement.

Mogami uses two large 18 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors in its Platinum Studio W3402 cable. The cable is specified with low capacitance, wide bandwidth, and a 110-ohm characteristic impedance. These electrical properties support analog audio use while also meeting AES3 digital-audio requirements.

A 100% coverage spiral shield helps protect the balanced signal path from radio-frequency interference. The cable uses red and white insulated conductors, a clear LDPE monofilament filler, and a black PVC outer jacket. Custom XLR terminations use silver-pin contacts for low contact resistance.

Design & Installation

The PLATINUM STUDIO 50 is assembled around Mogami W3402 cable with two 18 AWG OFC conductors, CPP insulation, a clear LDPE filler, a served shield, and a black PVC jacket. Its cable outer diameter is specified at 7.8 ± 0.5 mm. The terminated cable uses Mogami 3-pin XLR male and female connectors.

Route the cable between devices with matching 3-pin XLR connectors, keeping it clear of pinch points and avoiding unnecessary strain on the connectors. It is suited to installed or controlled studio environments rather than frequent rough handling. For AES/EBU use, connect compatible XLR digital outputs and inputs; no adapter is included.
