Shure SLXD2+/K8B G57 Wireless Handheld Transmitter

The Shure SLXD2+/K8B=-G57 is a digital wireless handheld transmitter built for professional vocal reinforcement, presentations, worship services, and live events. It combines Shure's SLX-D+ wireless platform with a black KSM8 Dualdyne cardioid dynamic microphone capsule. This is a transmitter only, intended to be paired with a compatible SLX-D+ receiver operating in the G57 frequency band.

The included KSM8 capsule is designed for detailed, natural vocal reproduction with controlled proximity effect as a performer changes microphone distance. Its cardioid pickup pattern helps focus on the intended voice while reducing pickup from the sides and rear. The dual-diaphragm dynamic design also uses an internal shock-mounting system to help reduce handling noise.

SLX-D+ provides 24-bit digital audio with a stated dynamic range greater than 118 dB. The G57 version tunes from 470 to 608 MHz, covering a 138 MHz range for flexible frequency coordination where that band is authorized. Its digital wireless system latency is specified at 2.8 ms.

When linked with an SLX-D+ receiver, ShowLink Ease supports over-the-air transmitter control without needing to resync devices. Compatible receiver-based management includes frequency deployment, power-output changes, control locking, and transmitter firmware updates. Wireless Workbench desktop software and the WWB Mobile app support monitoring and management within a compatible SLX-D+ system.

The aluminum transmitter body is made for regular stage and installed-sound use, while AES-256 encryption protects the wireless audio link. Power comes from two included AA batteries or an optional Shure SB903 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This makes the SLXD2+/K8B a practical expansion transmitter for an SLX-D+ wireless microphone system using the G57 band.

Design & Installation

The SLXD2+ uses an aluminum housing with an integrated single-band helical antenna. Its black KSM8 capsule uses a dual-diaphragm dynamic cartridge, hardened grille, hydrophobic grille fabric, and pneumatic shock-mount design. The handheld transmitter body measures 37.1 mm in diameter by 176 mm long and weighs 144 g before accounting for the microphone capsule.

Pair this transmitter with a compatible Shure SLX-D+ G57 receiver and synchronize the devices using their infrared ports during setup. Select coordinated frequencies through the receiver, then use the receiver, Wireless Workbench, or WWB Mobile tools as applicable to manage the system. Install two AA batteries for operation, or use an optional Shure SB903 rechargeable battery with compatible Shure charging accessories.
