The RØDE Wireless Micro is a compact two-person wireless microphone system made for recording audio directly to a USB-C smartphone. Its plug-in receiver eliminates the need for a separate cable between the phone and receiver, helping creators get set up quickly. Two included clip-on transmitters let interviews, conversations and on-the-go videos capture separate microphone sources.

This system suits smartphone content creators, mobile journalists, vloggers and anyone who wants clearer voice pickup than a phone microphone can provide. The transmitters have built-in omnidirectional microphones, so no separate lavalier microphones are required for standard use. Automatic pairing simplifies the workflow: connect the receiver, remove the transmitters from the case and begin recording.

RØDE's GainAssist technology automatically manages audio levels to help maintain balanced recordings in changing speaking conditions. The microphones use a patent-pending acoustic chamber designed to support clear, intelligible voice capture while reducing the effects of wind noise and plosives. A 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and 135 dB SPL maximum rating support speech recording across a wide range of everyday environments.

Each transmitter operates for up to 7 hours per charge, while the included 490 mAh charging case supplies two additional charges. This provides up to 21 hours of total operating time when starting with charged transmitters and case. The compact case also stores the transmitters, receiver and magnetic attachments between recording sessions.

The USB-C receiver is intended for USB-C smartphones and can also function as a class-compliant USB audio interface with computers. It works with recording apps that accept USB audio, and the system can be used with RØDE Capture, RØDE Central and RØDE Connect for compatible workflows. For camera use, the standard Wireless Micro requires the separately available Wireless Micro Camera Receiver or Wireless Micro Camera Kit.

Design & Installation

The Wireless Micro uses an ultra-compact, lightweight transmitter-and-receiver layout designed for discreet on-camera use. Each transmitter includes an integrated clothing clip, while the included magnetic attachments provide another mounting option. Built-in wind protection is supplemented by two included furry windshields for outdoor recording conditions.

Plug the USB-C receiver directly into a compatible smartphone, then remove the transmitters from the charging case to power and pair the system. Clip each transmitter near the speaker's mouth, avoiding heavy obstruction from clothing or hair; use the furry windshields outdoors when needed. Check that a thick phone case does not prevent the receiver from seating fully in the USB-C port.
