The Mackie THUMP215 is a self-powered 15-inch PA loudspeaker designed for live sound reinforcement, DJ playback, presentations, and rehearsal spaces. Its onboard amplification eliminates the need for a separate external power amplifier, helping simplify portable system setups. It is intended for AC-powered professional audio use rather than vehicle installation.

A 15-inch low-frequency driver and 1-inch compression driver cover bass, vocals, instruments, and playback material from a single enclosure. The specified 40 Hz–23 kHz frequency range and 129 dB peak maximum SPL support use in small-to-medium event, stage-monitor, and mobile sound applications. Its 90-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage is designed to distribute high frequencies across a listening area.

The THUMP215 uses a 1400-watt peak Class-D amplification platform, divided between a 1200-watt peak low-frequency amplifier and a 200-watt peak high-frequency amplifier. Convection cooling and built-in limiting help support sustained use without an external amplifier rack. Peak and RMS limiting, power-supply protection, and amplifier thermal protection are built in.

Its two-channel input section accommodates common live-sound sources without requiring a mixer for every basic setup. Channel 1 accepts mic or line-level signals through an XLR/1/4-inch combo input, while Channel 2 provides an XLR/1/4-inch line input plus a 3.5 mm stereo line input. A balanced XLR Thru output carries the mixed input signal to another compatible powered loudspeaker.

Practical tools include Music Ducking, which lowers Channel 2 when a microphone signal is present on Channel 1, and a Feedback Eliminator for Channel 1. The cabinet can be used upright on the floor, mounted on a compatible speaker pole, or placed as a 40-degree floor monitor. For larger systems, the Thru output can be used to daisy-chain additional Thump loudspeakers, and the speaker can be paired with a compatible powered subwoofer.

Key Features

  • 1400W Peak Amplification: Integrated Class-D power removes the need for a separate amplifier.
  • 15-Inch Ferrite Woofer: Handles low-frequency output for music and live sound.
  • 1-Inch Compression Driver: Provides dedicated high-frequency reproduction for vocals and instruments.
  • Music Ducking: Automatically lowers Channel 2 when Channel 1 receives a mic signal.
  • Feedback Eliminator: Applies automatic notch filters to help control Channel 1 feedback.
  • Flexible Wired I/O: Supports XLR, 1/4-inch TRS, 3.5 mm, and XLR Thru connections.

Design & Installation

The THUMP215 combines a 15-inch ferrite low-frequency driver with a 1-inch polymer compression driver in a portable powered-loudspeaker format. Its enclosure includes a built-in bottom pole socket and a monitor-wedge profile for alternate placement. The specified cabinet weight is 32.6 lb, supporting transport between gigs and setups.

Connect the supplied-type IEC AC power cord to an appropriate 100–240V AC source, then feed microphone or line-level sources into the rear-panel inputs. Use the XLR Thru output to pass the mixed signal to another powered speaker when expanding coverage. For upright use, place it on a stable floor or use a speaker pole rated to support its weight; it is not designed for suspended rigging.
