The Mackie DRM215 is a self-powered 15-inch, 2-way professional loudspeaker for portable PA systems, DJs, performers, venues, and installed sound applications. Its integrated amplification and onboard processing reduce the need for separate external power amplifiers and speaker-management hardware. It is designed to deliver full-range sound from a compact, deployable cabinet.
This speaker suits users who need a main PA cabinet that can accept microphones, line-level sources, or an auxiliary playback device. Two independent mic/line inputs allow direct connection of common audio sources, while the stereo 1/8-inch input supports devices such as phones, tablets, and media players. Direct outputs and a mix output make it practical to feed additional loudspeakers.
The DRM215 combines a 15-inch ferrite woofer with a 1.4-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver. Its specified frequency range extends from 43 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB, with a maximum peak SPL of 135 dB. A 90-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage pattern helps direct sound across an audience area.
Its 1600-watt peak Class-D amplifier system is split between low-frequency and high-frequency amplification. Mackie's Advanced Impulse DSP uses FIR filtering, precision crossover processing, and transducer time alignment. The rear-panel DRM Control Dashboard provides access to voicing, EQ, subwoofer high-pass filtering, delay, metering, and saved settings.
The DRM215 can operate as a standalone full-range loudspeaker or as the top cabinet in a system with a subwoofer. A dedicated DRM18S subwoofer setting applies a 90 Hz crossover point, while a variable high-pass filter is available for other subwoofer systems. Its cabinet can also serve as a floor monitor or be pole-mounted for elevated coverage.
Key Features
- 1600W Peak Class-D Amplification: Integrated amplification powers the low- and high-frequency drivers without an external amplifier.
- 15-Inch Ferrite Woofer: Provides the low-frequency foundation for full-range PA use.
- 1.4-Inch Titanium Compression Driver: Handles high frequencies with a compression-driver design.
- Advanced Impulse DSP: Uses FIR filtering, crossover processing, and time alignment for system control.
- DRM Control Dashboard: Color TFT display and rotary control provide access to setup and processing functions.
- Flexible System Outputs: Direct outputs and mono mix output support daisy-chaining additional loudspeakers.
Design & Installation
The DRM215 uses a plywood enclosure with a black Polyurea finish, a powder-coated perforated-steel grille, and side and top carrying handles. Its asymmetrical cabinet design supports both upright PA placement and a 50-degree monitor position. Front and rear status LEDs provide power and speaker-control indication.
Connect line-level, microphone, or instrument sources to the two mic/line channels, or use the 1/8-inch stereo input for compatible playback devices. The cabinet may be placed on the floor, mounted to a suitably rated pole using its built-in dual-angle socket, or flown vertically from its integrated M10 mounting points by qualified personnel. When pairing it with a subwoofer, select the appropriate high-pass setting from the onboard dashboard before final level and EQ adjustments.

Is the DRM215 a car audio speaker?
No. The DRM215 is a powered professional PA loudspeaker, not a vehicle speaker. It uses AC mains power and professional audio inputs.
Do I need a separate power amplifier?
No. The DRM215 has an integrated Class-D amplifier system rated at 1600 watts peak. It connects to AC power through its IEC power input.
What audio sources can I connect?
It has two independent mic/line inputs with balanced XLR and 1/4-inch connectivity, plus a stereo 1/8-inch line input. The 1/8-inch input is intended for sources such as phones, tablets, and media players.
Can I connect additional speakers?
Yes. Each of the first two channels has a direct XLR output, and the speaker also has an XLR mix output. The mix output combines signals from all three input sections, with the stereo auxiliary input mono-summed.
Can I use a subwoofer with the DRM215?
Yes. Its DSP offers Off, DRM18S, and variable subwoofer high-pass settings. The DRM18S setting uses a 90 Hz crossover point, while the variable setting adjusts from 40 Hz to 160 Hz.
Can it be pole-mounted or used as a monitor?
Yes. The cabinet has dual-angle pole-mount sockets and can be used as a floor monitor at a 50-degree angle. It also has integrated M10 fly points for vertical suspension using suitable hardware and qualified installation practices.
