The Mackie Thrash215 is a self-powered 15-inch loudspeaker designed for portable PA reinforcement, rehearsals, DJ systems, small venues, and stage-monitor duty. Its built-in amplification removes the need for an external power amplifier, helping streamline setup for performers and event operators. Two combination inputs allow common microphone- or line-level sources to connect directly.

This speaker is suited to musicians, DJs, presenters, and production teams who need a straightforward full-range PA cabinet. The 15-inch low-frequency driver extends the system's low end while a 1-inch titanium high-frequency driver handles upper-frequency detail. Its published frequency range reaches 38 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB.

The Thrash215 uses a 1300-watt peak Class-D amplification system split between the low- and high-frequency drivers. A 24 dB-per-octave electronic crossover at 2.4 kHz directs the signal to the appropriate driver. Built-in limiting, overexcursion protection, and thermal protection are designed to help manage demanding operating conditions.

For flexible signal routing, the two rear-panel XLR/TRS combination inputs accept mic and line signals. The balanced XLR Mix Out sends the combined audio from both input channels to another compatible powered speaker or device. This makes it practical to expand a system without requiring a separate output for every loudspeaker.

The cabinet can serve as a main PA on a floor or pole, or it can be placed horizontally as a 45-degree floor monitor. Four handles support loading and positioning, while the rotatable grille badge maintains the logo orientation when used on its side. For larger systems, it can be used with a powered subwoofer that provides high-pass outputs to the full-range speakers.

Design & Installation

The Thrash215 uses a portable cabinet design with four integrated handles for carrying and placement. Its 15-inch woofer uses a ferrite magnet, and the cabinet includes a rotatable grille badge for horizontal monitor use. The rear panel provides individual channel gain controls, a main level control, a power switch, and a Power/Overload LED.

Place the speaker on a stable floor or stage, mount it on a suitable speaker pole using the cabinet's bottom socket, or lay it horizontally for monitor use at its 45-degree monitor angle. Use balanced XLR or 1/4-inch TRS cables where appropriate, set each input gain for the source type, and use the Mix Out to daisy-chain additional powered loudspeakers. The cabinet has no rigging points and must not be suspended by its handles.
