The Mackie Thrash212 is a self-powered 12-inch PA loudspeaker designed for portable live sound, rehearsals, presentations, and monitoring. Its integrated amplification and two-channel input section reduce the amount of external equipment needed for straightforward setups. It provides a practical solution when clear, high-output reinforcement is needed from a single cabinet.

This speaker suits musicians, DJs, presenters, schools, small venues, and event setups that need a compact powered loudspeaker. Two combo XLR/TRS inputs accept microphone or line-level sources, allowing direct connection of common audio gear. Independent input gain controls support simple two-source setups without requiring a separate mixer.

The Thrash212 uses a 12-inch woofer and a 1-inch titanium compression driver in a two-way system. Its published frequency range extends from 52 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB, with a maximum peak SPL of 125 dB. The 90° horizontal by 60° vertical coverage pattern is intended to distribute sound across an audience area while retaining useful directionality.

A 1300-watt peak Class-D amplifier system powers the low- and high-frequency drivers. The built-in crossover operates at 2.4 kHz, while peak and RMS limiting plus amplifier and power-supply thermal protection help manage the system during demanding use. A rear-panel power/overload LED provides visible operating status.

For larger setups, the balanced Mix Out carries the audio from both input channels to another powered loudspeaker or compatible powered subwoofer. The cabinet can serve as a pole-mounted main speaker or as a floor monitor using its dual-angle wedge design. This flexibility makes the Thrash212 suitable as a starting point for a scalable portable PA system.

Design & Installation

The Thrash212 uses a black polypropylene enclosure with a perforated metal grille and four integrated handles. Its asymmetrical cabinet shape supports pole-mounted use as well as floor-monitor placement at a 45° monitor angle. A rotatable grille badge keeps the Mackie logo oriented appropriately in either position.

Place the speaker on the floor or use the built-in bottom pole socket with a stand or pole rated for its weight. Connect microphones or line-level sources to either combo input, set the input gains gradually, and use the balanced Mix Out when feeding another powered speaker or subwoofer. The cabinet has no rigging points and is not intended for suspension by its handles.
