Shure GLXD14R+/MX53-Z3 Digital Wireless Rack System
$935.00
Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 50 50-Foot XLR Microphone Cable
$259.95
The Shure GLXD14R+/MX53-Z3 is a single-channel digital wireless headset system built for spoken-word and vocal applications requiring a low-profile microphone and rack-mounted receiver. It combines the GLXD1+ bodypack transmitter, MX153 earset microphone, and GLXD4R+ half-rack receiver. The system is suited to presenters, instructors, worship teams, performers, and installed AV systems that need hands-free operation.
The included MX153 is a subminiature omnidirectional earset microphone designed for discreet placement close to the mouth. Its headworn format helps maintain more consistent vocal level as the user moves compared with a fixed microphone position. The microphone's 20 Hz to 20 kHz response supports clear speech and natural vocal reproduction.
GLX-D+ Dual Band technology operates across the Z3 version's 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency ranges. Automatic frequency management scans available spectrum and selects a clean operating channel, while the receiver and transmitter pair automatically. This approach simplifies setup in environments where wireless activity can change during use.
The GLXD4R+ receiver provides balanced XLR and impedance-balanced 1/4-inch audio outputs for connection to a mixer, amplifier, recorder, or installed sound system. A selectable mic/line setting on the XLR output helps match the receiver to professional audio inputs. The receiver also offers adjustable transmitter gain in 1 dB increments.
Power comes from the included SB904 rechargeable lithium-ion battery, rated for up to 11.5 hours of system battery life. The battery can be charged in the receiver or through the bodypack's USB-C charging port, and a 15-minute quick charge provides up to 1.5 hours of use. For expanded multi-system installations, the separately available GLXD+FM Frequency Manager supports increased coordinated channel counts.
Key Features
- Dual-Band Operation: Uses 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz spectrum in the Z3 version.
- MX153 Earset Microphone: Provides discreet, hands-free speech and vocal pickup.
- Automatic Frequency Management: Monitors spectrum and selects available operating channels.
- Rechargeable SB904 Battery: Delivers up to 11.5 hours of use.
- Rack-Mount Receiver: Half-rack GLXD4R+ integrates into professional equipment racks.
- Flexible Audio Outputs: Includes balanced XLR and 1/4-inch audio connections.
Design & Installation
The GLXD4R+ receiver uses a steel housing for rack-oriented installations, while the GLXD1+ bodypack combines aluminum alloy and ABS plastic construction. The bodypack uses an internal dual-band monopole antenna and a TA4M input for compatible headset microphones or instrument cables. The MX153 is an electret condenser microphone with an omnidirectional pickup pattern and a lightweight 19.76 g design.
Attach the included antennas, connect the supplied PS43 power supply, and route the XLR or 1/4-inch output to the destination audio system. Mount the receiver with the included rack hardware when a fixed rack installation is preferred, and link one transmitter-receiver pair at a time when deploying multiple systems. The separately sold GLXD+FM Frequency Manager is required for expanded multi-receiver operation beyond the standard system configuration.
