sE Electronics V KICK Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone
$175.00
Mogami GOLD STUDIO-10 10' XLR Microphone Cable
$87.95
The sE Electronics V KICK is a compact dynamic microphone designed for kick drums and other sources that produce substantial low-frequency energy. It provides a focused alternative to larger kick microphones where stage space, drum-port access, or cable management can be limiting. Its supercardioid pickup pattern is intended to prioritize the source in front of the microphone while helping reduce off-axis spill.
This microphone is suited to drummers, engineers, rehearsal spaces, studios, and live-sound systems that need a dedicated kick-drum capture option. It can also be used on floor toms, larger percussion instruments, and bass-guitar speaker cabinets. The compact 60 mm by 135 mm body can be positioned inside or outside a kick drum.
The V KICK uses a custom DMC7 SB dynamic capsule with an aluminum voice coil and neodymium magnet. Its 20 Hz to 19 kHz frequency range and low-frequency-focused tuning support deep kick fundamentals alongside attack detail. The supercardioid design and selectable voicings provide practical control before applying console EQ or processing.
Two recessed rear switches create four available voicing combinations. The left switch changes the overall voicing between Classic and Modern, while the right switch adjusts the high-frequency character between Classic and Modern. This lets an engineer select a warmer, rounded response or a more open, contemporary presentation without changing microphones.
For system integration, the V KICK connects through its 3-pin male XLR output to a compatible microphone input or preamp. Its integrated swivel joint supports angle adjustments through a kick-drum port or from outside the resonant head. The all-metal housing, spring-steel grille, and internal capsule suspension are designed for repeated studio and stage use.
Key Features
- Custom DMC7 SB Capsule: Dynamic capsule is tuned for low and loud sound sources, including kick drums.
- Four Switchable Voicings: Two rear switches provide four tonal combinations for different drum sounds.
- Supercardioid Pickup Pattern: Focuses on the intended source while helping reduce off-axis bleed.
- Integrated Swivel Joint: Allows precise positioning inside or outside a kick drum.
- Compact XLR Layout: Parallel connector and stand mount help keep cable routing organized.
- Road-Ready Construction: Die-cast zinc housing, spring-steel grille, and gold-plated XLR support regular use.
Design & Installation
The V KICK uses an all-metal chassis made from die-cast zinc alloy, paired with a spring-steel mesh grille. Its internal capsule suspension helps decouple the capsule from mechanical vibration, while the beveled grille edge helps keep the microphone from rolling when set down. The microphone measures 60 mm in diameter and 135 mm in length, with a weight of 468 g.
Mount the V KICK on a compatible microphone stand or mounting solution using the integrated swivel joint and included thread adapter. It can be placed through a kick-drum head port or positioned outside the drum; tighten the swivel clamp after adjustment to prevent sagging. Connect its 3-pin male XLR output with a suitable XLR cable, and keep the microphone and cable from touching the drum head.
