The RØDE X XDM-100 is a dynamic USB microphone built for streamers, gamers, and creators who want a focused voice sound without adding a separate audio interface. Its end-address design connects directly to a computer through USB-C, keeping a desktop streaming or gaming setup straightforward. A built-in 3.5mm headphone output also provides a direct monitoring point at the microphone.
Its dynamic capsule and cardioid pickup pattern are designed to prioritize the voice in front of the microphone while reducing capture from the surrounding room. This makes the XDM-100 well suited to desk setups where keyboard, mouse, fan, or room noise may be present. For close speaking, RØDE recommends positioning the microphone approximately 2 to 6 inches from the mouth.
The XDM-100 uses an ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamp and 24-bit/48 kHz analog-to-digital conversion. Its frequency range extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz for full-range voice capture. Internal DSP supports voice processing when used with RØDE's UNIFY software.
UNIFY adds virtual mixing and routing for microphone, game, chat, music, browser, and system audio sources. It also provides adjustable voice tools including a high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor, APHEX Aural Exciter, and Big Bottom processing. The microphone can function as both the computer's audio input and headphone output device.
The XDM-100 is supplied with practical accessories for a more complete streaming station, including a PSM1 shock mount, foam pop shield, USB-C cable, and headphone extension cable. It is a USB-powered solution for users who want a dedicated vocal microphone with direct headphone monitoring. Pair it with a compatible desktop stand or studio arm to position it close to the speaker.
Key Features
- Dynamic Cardioid Capsule: Focuses pickup toward the speaker while helping reduce room and desk noise.
- USB-C Connectivity: Connects directly to a compatible computer without a separate audio interface.
- Revolution Preamp: Provides high-gain, ultra-low-noise microphone circuitry.
- 24-Bit/48 kHz Conversion: Delivers high-resolution digital audio to the connected computer.
- Direct Headphone Monitoring: Uses a 3.5mm output for zero-latency monitoring, level control, and mute functions.
- UNIFY Integration: Adds virtual mixing, routing, and adjustable voice processing for streaming workflows.
Design & Installation
The XDM-100 has a black microphone body with an end-address grille, status LED, integrated USB-C connection, and 3.5mm headphone output. Its included PSM1 shock mount uses elastic suspension to help isolate the microphone from vibrations that can travel through a desk or boom arm. A foam pop shield is included to help manage plosive sounds during close vocal use.
Connect the included USB-C to USB-C cable from the microphone to a compatible computer and select the XDM-100 as the input and output device in the computer's audio settings. If the computer uses USB-A, a compatible USB-C to USB-A cable is required. Mount the included shock mount to a compatible desktop stand or studio arm, keep the microphone close to the speaker, and use the supplied pop shield for close-up voice work.

Does the XDM-100 need an audio interface?
No. The microphone connects directly to a compatible computer through USB-C and is powered through USB. It does not require a separate audio interface for computer use.
Can I plug headphones into the microphone?
Yes. The XDM-100 has a 3.5mm headphone output for direct, zero-latency monitoring. The onboard control adjusts headphone level and provides mute-related functions.
Does it include a shock mount and pop filter?
Yes. It includes the PSM1 shock mount and a foam pop shield. The box also includes a 3m USB-C to USB-C cable and a 3m headphone extension cable.
What computers can use the XDM-100?
RØDE lists macOS 12 or later and Windows 10 version 1803 or later for the current software ecosystem. The microphone connects through USB-C; a computer with only USB-A needs a suitable USB-C to USB-A cable.
Is this microphone suited to noisy rooms?
Its dynamic cardioid design is less sensitive to surrounding sound than a condenser microphone and is intended to focus on a close speaker. For best results, speak into the end of the microphone from about 2 to 6 inches away.
Can it be used with UNIFY?
Yes. The XDM-100 is designed for use with RØDE UNIFY, which provides virtual mixing, routing, recording, and voice processing tools. UNIFY is available for Windows.
