The Shure MV88-USBC is a compact stereo condenser microphone that connects directly to a compatible USB-C phone, tablet, or computer for mobile recording. It is designed for creators who want a more controlled audio capture option than a device's built-in microphone. Its direct USB-C connection avoids separate pairing, charging, and cable requirements for everyday recording.

Built for vlogging, interviews, voice recording, music, and field capture, the MV88-USBC uses a mid-side capsule arrangement to create an adjustable stereo image. Selectable capture modes allow the microphone to suit focused voice pickup, two-person interviews, stereo ambience, or raw mid-side recording. This makes it practical for users who record in changing locations and with different sound sources.

The microphone works with Shure MOTIV mobile and desktop apps for recording and sound adjustment. Auto Level Mode can manage gain in real time, while Real-Time Denoiser is available to reduce unwanted background noise. Manual controls in compatible MOTIV apps include gain, compression, five-band EQ, high-pass filtering, and stereo-width adjustment.

Five customizable recording presets provide a starting point for speech, singing, acoustic instruments, loud sources, or a flat response. The adjustable stereo setting spans a 60° to 135° width, helping users choose a narrower or wider sound field. Mono cardioid and mono bi-directional modes provide alternate pickup options when stereo recording is not the goal.

The MV88-USBC is housed in metal and measures just 67.9 mm long, making it easy to carry with a mobile recording setup. Its microphone barrel can tilt, flip, and rotate up to 90 degrees to aim toward the source in portrait or landscape use. A foam windscreen and protective carrying case are included for basic portable recording use.

The MV88-USBC uses lightweight all-metal construction with a black finish and a compact integrated USB-C connector. It weighs 40.5 g and combines a 10 mm cardioid condenser cartridge with a 10 mm bidirectional condenser cartridge. A status LED indicates connection, mute, settings-lock, and firmware-update states.

Plug the microphone directly into a compatible USB-C device, then use a recording app or the Shure MOTIV app to confirm input and adjust settings. The reversible USB-C connector permits either connection orientation, while the pivoting barrel helps aim the microphone toward the source. It supports phone cases up to 2.1 mm thick; thicker cases may require a USB-C extension adapter.
