Mogami PLATINUM STUDIO 03 3' XLR Microphone Cable $99.95
Bundle total: $398.95

The Shure MV7+K is a dynamic podcast microphone designed for spoken-word recording, livestreaming, broadcasting, gaming, and vocal content creation. Its cardioid pickup pattern focuses on sound directly in front of the microphone, helping reduce pickup of unwanted room sound from the sides and rear. It is suited to creators who need a close-address microphone with both direct USB-C convenience and conventional XLR connectivity.

Using USB-C, the MV7+K connects directly to compatible computers, phones, and tablets while providing digital audio and onboard processing controls. Its USB output supports real-time headphone monitoring through the built-in 3.5 mm output, making it practical for checking mic level and computer playback during a session. The passive XLR output also allows connection to a mixer or audio interface.

The microphone uses a moving-coil dynamic transducer with a 50 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response and a unidirectional cardioid pattern. This close-mic design is intended to maintain vocal intelligibility with a balanced tone. Voice Isolation Technology combines the directional capsule with DSP to help emphasize the speaker over nearby background sound.

Shure's onboard DSP provides Auto Level Mode, real-time denoising, a Digital Popper Stopper, adjustable tone, reverb, compression, limiting, and high-pass filtering. These controls are available through MOTIV Mix for desktop and Shure MOTIV Audio and Video apps for mobile use. The microphone retains the most recently used settings for faster repeat setup.

A full-color LED touch panel adds live level metering, customizable lighting behavior, brightness control, and tap-to-mute operation. The MV7+K can be mounted on a standard microphone stand or boom using its adjustable yoke and 5/8-inch-27 threaded mount. For a system upgrade path, use USB-C for a compact plug-and-play setup or XLR with an external interface or mixer when adding outboard recording equipment.

Key Features

  • Hybrid USB-C/XLR Outputs: Connect directly to a computer or mobile device, or use an XLR mixer or audio interface.
  • Cardioid Dynamic Capsule: Focuses on the speaker in front of the microphone for close-mic vocal capture.
  • Voice Isolation Technology: Combines directional pickup and DSP to help reduce unwanted background sound.
  • Onboard DSP Suite: Includes Auto Level, denoising, pop filtering, tone control, reverb, compression, limiting, and high-pass filtering.
  • LED Touch Panel: Provides tap-to-mute control, level display, and configurable color and brightness behavior.
  • Headphone Monitoring: The 3.5 mm output supports direct, latency-free monitoring with compatible headphones or earphones.

Design & Installation

The MV7+K uses a diecast aluminum housing with an adjustable yoke assembly and black foam windscreen. Its all-metal construction is designed for regular desktop, boom-arm, and studio use. The LED touch panel runs along the body for visible status, level monitoring, and mute control.

For USB operation, connect the included 3 m USB-C to USB-C cable to a compatible computer, phone, or tablet, then connect headphones to the 3.5 mm monitor output if desired. For analog operation, connect its passive XLR output to a mixer or audio interface; Shure notes that XLR audio is not affected by software settings. Mount the microphone to a 5/8-inch-27 stand or boom thread, or use the included 5/8-inch-to-3/8-inch adapter where needed.
