PreSonus AIR15 15" 2-Way Active PA Loudspeaker

The PreSonus AIR15 is a self-powered 15-inch, 2-way PA loudspeaker designed for portable sound reinforcement and permanent installations. It combines a large low-frequency driver with a compression driver to cover music playback, live performance, presentations, and speech reinforcement. Built-in amplification and signal processing reduce the need for separate external power amps or speaker processors.

This loudspeaker is suited to DJs, musicians, event providers, houses of worship, corporate presenters, and venues needing a flexible full-range speaker. Its multi-angle cabinet can serve as an upright main speaker or a floor monitor wedge. The onboard mixer also lets users connect more than one source directly to the speaker.

The AIR15 is specified for a 47 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and up to 124 dB peak SPL. Its 15-inch woofer supports extended low-frequency output, while the 1.35-inch compression driver handles high-frequency detail. A 90° horizontal by 60° vertical coverage pattern helps direct sound across the audience area.

PreSonus uses a hybrid amplifier configuration, pairing a Class D amplifier for the low-frequency driver with a Class AB amplifier for the high-frequency driver. The system provides 1,200 watts peak output, divided between the woofer and compression driver. DSP controls provide application and placement presets, plus adjustable bass and treble response.

For system expansion, the AIR15 includes a balanced XLR Mix Out for feeding additional powered loudspeakers. It can be pole-mounted, used over a compatible subwoofer with an optional sub pole, placed as a wedge monitor, or suspended using its M10 fly points. This makes it practical as the full-range foundation of a portable PA or installed sound system.

Design & Installation

The AIR15 uses an H-PP molded enclosure with a multi-angle shape for main-speaker or monitor-wedge placement. Its 1.2 mm steel grille protects the drivers, while integrated top and side handles assist with transport. Nonskid rubber feet support upright and monitor orientations.

Connect microphones or line-level sources to the two XLR/TRS combo inputs, or connect a consumer playback device through the stereo 3.5 mm input. Use the rear-panel DSP controls to select the appropriate application and location preset, then link another powered speaker from the XLR Mix Out if needed. The cabinet accepts a 35 mm pole and provides 0° or 7.5° downward aiming positions; suspended installations use the M10 fly points and should follow applicable safety guidance.
