The Mackie THUMP12v4 is a self-powered 12-inch professional PA loudspeaker designed for portable live sound, music playback, presentations, karaoke, and stage-monitor use. Its integrated Class-D amplification and built-in mixer reduce the need for separate amplification hardware in smaller systems. The cabinet can serve as a main speaker on a stand, a floor monitor, or part of a larger PA setup.

This speaker is suited to musicians, DJs, venues, schools, houses of worship, and event users who need a flexible full-range loudspeaker. A 12-inch ferrite woofer handles low-frequency output, while a 1-inch high-temperature polymeric compression driver covers the high frequencies. The system is rated for up to 129 dB peak SPL and has a 39 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response at -10 dB.

SoundCheck DSP provides four selectable voicing modes: Flat, DJ, Live, and Wedge. These modes help tailor the speaker for neutral playback, music-focused DJ use, vocal-forward live applications, or floor-monitor placement. Outdoor Mode, Music Ducking, and Feedback Eliminator functions provide additional setup tools for changing environments and events.

The integrated two-channel mixer accepts microphones and line-level sources through two XLR/TRS combo inputs, with a mic/line switch on channel 1. Channel 2 also includes a 1/8-inch line input for compatible portable playback devices. A balanced XLR Mix Out sends a summed mono signal, including Bluetooth audio, to another powered speaker or compatible subwoofer.

Bluetooth 5.0 supports wireless audio streaming and speaker linking between two THUMPv4 loudspeakers. With the Thump Connect 2 app for iOS and Android, users can remotely adjust settings, channel levels, EQ, speaker modes, and presets. This makes the THUMP12v4 a practical starting point for a single-speaker portable system or a scalable two-speaker PA with optional subwoofer support.

Design & Installation

The THUMP12v4 uses a rugged portable enclosure with premium metal carry handles and a 12-inch ferrite woofer. Its cabinet may be positioned upright as a main PA speaker or placed horizontally at a 40-degree monitor angle. A front LED can be switched on or off, while status LEDs indicate operating functions, Bluetooth, linking, signal, and overload status.

For setup, connect microphones or line-level equipment to the combo inputs, or use the channel 2 1/8-inch input for a compatible playback device. The speaker can be floor-mounted, placed on a 35 mm pole, or flown vertically using its three M10 mounting points and appropriate rated hardware. Use the balanced XLR Mix Out to daisy-chain another powered speaker or feed a compatible subwoofer; do not connect an amplifier output directly to the speaker inputs.
