The Mackie DRM212 is a self-powered 12-inch, 2-way professional PA loudspeaker for portable sound systems, installed venues, live performers, DJs, and houses of worship. Its built-in amplification and onboard mixing inputs simplify setups that would otherwise require a separate power amplifier and speaker processor. It can serve as a main speaker, stage monitor, or part of a larger sound-reinforcement system.
A 12-inch high-excursion woofer and 1.4-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver cover the full-range duties in a compact cabinet. The DRM212 is rated for 134 dB maximum peak SPL and has a 45 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range at -10 dB. Its 90-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage is designed to provide focused coverage for audiences or performers.
The integrated Class-D amplifier delivers 1600 watts peak system power, with dedicated amplification for the low- and high-frequency drivers. Advanced Impulse DSP uses FIR filtering, crossover processing, and transducer time alignment to manage the loudspeaker system. Built-in limiting and thermal protection are included to help protect the system during demanding use.
The DRM Control Dashboard combines a full-color TFT LCD and push-button rotary encoder for local control. Users can select Live, Club, Speech, or Monitor voicings, adjust a 3-band parametric EQ, configure subwoofer high-pass filtering, and set alignment delay. Six user memories, a display backlight setting, and a four-digit system lock support repeatable setups.
Two combo XLR/1/4-inch inputs, a stereo 1/8-inch auxiliary input, individual direct outputs, and a mixed XLR output provide practical connection options. Channel 2 can be set for a high-impedance instrument source, allowing a guitar to connect without a separate DI box. For expanded systems, the mixed output or direct outputs can feed additional powered loudspeakers, while the adjustable high-pass filter helps integrate a compatible subwoofer.
Key Features
- 1600W Peak Class-D Amplification: Built-in power eliminates the need for an external amplifier.
- 12-Inch Two-Way Driver System: Combines a high-excursion woofer with a titanium compression driver.
- Advanced Impulse DSP: Uses FIR processing, crossover control, and time alignment.
- DRM Control Dashboard: Full-color display and encoder provide direct system adjustment.
- Flexible Input Section: Supports microphone, line, instrument, and stereo auxiliary sources.
- Multiple Deployment Options: Use it on a pole, as a floor monitor, or flown.
Design & Installation
The DRM212 uses an asymmetrical plywood enclosure with a black Polyurea finish, internal bracing, and a powder-coated perforated-steel grille. It has one handle on each side plus a top handle for transport. The cabinet is designed to be used upright or horizontally as a 50-degree floor monitor.
Connect sources to the combo inputs or stereo 1/8-inch auxiliary input, then connect the included detachable IEC power cord to suitable AC power. Use the direct outputs or mixed output when daisy-chaining additional powered speakers. The cabinet includes dual-angle pole sockets and eight M10 fly points; flown installation should be performed only by an experienced technician using appropriate hardware.

Does the DRM212 need an external power amplifier?
No. It is a powered loudspeaker with built-in Class-D amplification rated at 1600 watts peak system power. It does require connection to AC power.
Can I connect a microphone and music player directly?
Yes. It has two XLR/1/4-inch combo inputs for mic or line sources and a stereo 1/8-inch auxiliary input for a line-level source such as a phone, tablet, or media player. The auxiliary input is mono-summed at the Mix Out.
Can I plug a guitar into the DRM212?
Yes, channel 2 supports a high-impedance source through its 1/4-inch input when the channel is set to Hi-Z. This allows compatible instruments such as a guitar to connect without a separate DI box.
Can it be used as a stage monitor?
Yes. The asymmetrical cabinet can be placed horizontally as a floor monitor at a 50-degree angle, and the Monitor voicing mode is provided for monitor applications. It can also be used upright as a main PA loudspeaker.
What is included with the speaker?
A detachable IEC power cord is included with the loudspeaker. Covers, pole-mount accessories, and forged shoulder eyebolts are listed as optional accessories.
