The Jackson JS Series Spectra Bass JS3Q is a right-handed, four-string electric bass built for players seeking a modern instrument with flexible onboard tone controls. This Dark Sunburst version pairs a gloss poplar Spectra Bass body with a quilt maple top and black nickel hardware. Its offset body and extended upper horn are designed to help distribute the instrument's weight and reduce neck dive during longer playing sessions.

A 34-inch scale length gives the JS3Q a familiar full-scale bass feel for standard four-string playing. The satin maple neck uses bolt-on construction with a scarf joint, while the laurel fingerboard has a 12-inch to 16-inch compound radius and 24 jumbo frets. This combination provides a flatter upper-register playing surface while retaining a more rounded feel near the nut.

Dual Jackson medium-output humbucking pickups provide the foundation for its HH pickup configuration. A two-way toggle switch splits the pickup coils, adding another pickup voicing beyond the standard humbucking setting. The controls include master volume, blend, and an active three-band EQ for shaping bass, midrange, and treble response.

The volume knob includes a push/pull active-passive selector. In passive mode, the active EQ circuit is bypassed, so the bass can continue producing output without relying on the active circuit. This gives players a practical fallback if battery power for the EQ is unavailable.

Jackson equips the JS3Q with a HiMass bridge and sealed die-cast tuning machines for its string anchoring and tuning hardware. Factory strings are nickel-plated steel in .045-.100 gauges, making it ready for conventional four-string bass tuning and setup. It is suited to use with a bass amplifier, pedalboard, recording interface, or other instrument-level bass signal path.

Key Features

  • 34-Inch Scale Length: Full-scale four-string layout supports familiar bass string tension and spacing.
  • Poplar Body With Quilt Maple Top: Combines the Spectra Bass body platform with a Dark Sunburst presentation.
  • HH Pickup Configuration: Two Jackson medium-output humbuckers provide bridge and neck pickup positions.
  • Coil-Split Toggle: Two-way switch changes the pickup coil configuration for another tonal option.
  • Active/Passive Operation: Push/pull volume control bypasses the active three-band EQ when needed.
  • Jackson HiMass Bridge: Provides the fixed bridge platform for string setup and anchoring.

Design & Installation

The JS3Q uses a gloss-finished poplar body with a quilt maple top, a satin maple neck, and a bound laurel fingerboard with white dot inlays. Its black nickel hardware includes a Jackson HiMass bridge, sealed die-cast tuners, black pickup covers, dome-style knobs, and a unique Jackson 2x2 headstock. The neck has a dual-action truss rod with adjustment at the nut, and both a truss rod wrench and saddle-height wrench are included.

This is an electric bass guitar rather than a vehicle-audio component, so it does not use DIN mounting, speaker wiring, or car-stereo connections. Connect it to an appropriate bass amplifier, effects chain, or instrument input using a standard instrument cable. A player or qualified guitar technician can use the included adjustment tools for normal setup work such as saddle-height or neck-relief adjustments.
