The Shure SE846G2JD Gen 2 is a wired Sound Isolating earphone system designed for detailed personal listening, in-ear monitoring, and critical playback. Its low-profile in-ear fit helps reduce outside sound so music and program material can be heard more clearly in noisy environments. The Jade version pairs a colored outer shell with a clear inner housing.

These earphones are suited to musicians, audio enthusiasts, content creators, and listeners who prefer a serviceable wired connection. A detachable 3.5 mm cable provides a direct connection to compatible headphone outputs, portable players, interfaces, and headphone amplifiers. The included 1/4-inch adapter also supports use with equipment that has a 6.35 mm headphone jack.

The SE846 Gen 2 uses four balanced-armature drivers in a three-way system for dedicated low, mid, and high-frequency distribution. Its frequency range is rated at 15 Hz to 20 kHz, with sensitivity rated at 114 dB SPL/mW at 1 kHz. Shure's low-pass filter design is engineered to extend low-frequency performance while preserving detail.

Four removable nozzle inserts let the listener select Extended, Balanced, Warm, or Bright sound signatures. The red Extended insert is the factory-installed configuration and raises the response by 2 dB from 4 kHz to 10 kHz. Balanced is neutral, while Warm and Bright adjust the 1 kHz to 8 kHz region by minus or plus 2.5 dB respectively.

MMCX earphone connectors allow the cable to be removed for replacement or for use with compatible Shure accessories, including True Wireless Adapters. A broad fit kit is included to help establish a proper acoustic seal, which is important for bass response and sound isolation. With the right sleeve and secure over-ear cable routing, the SE846 Gen 2 can integrate cleanly into portable, desktop, stage-monitor, or vehicle headphone-listening setups.

Design & Installation

The SE846G2JD uses an ergonomic, low-profile earphone shape intended to sit securely in the ear with the cable routed over and behind the ear. The Jade colorway uses a Jade exterior with a clear internal housing.

For setup, choose the sleeve that creates a comfortable, snug seal, then insert the earphones and route the cable over the ears before tightening the cable cinch as needed. Connect the included 3.5 mm TRS plug to a compatible headphone output, or use the supplied 1/4-inch adapter with 6.35 mm equipment.
