The Shure SRH1540-BK is a wired, closed-back circumaural headphone designed for detailed personal listening, studio work, and monitoring. Dynamic 40 mm neodymium drivers cover a stated 5 Hz to 25 kHz frequency range. With 46-ohm impedance and 99 dB/mW sensitivity at 1 kHz, the SRH1540 can be connected to equipment with a standard headphone output.

The driver diaphragm uses APTIV Film, which Shure developed to improve linearity and reduce total harmonic distortion. A steel driver frame and vented center pole piece are used to reduce internal resonance and support consistent response at different listening levels. The headphone also provides 15 dB of acoustic isolation at 1 kHz.

For daily use, the SRH1540 pairs lightweight materials with serviceable components. Its aircraft-grade aluminum alloy yoke, carbon-fiber earcup cap, and adjustable dual-frame padded headband are intended to balance durability and comfort. Alcantara ear pads with low-density, slow-recovery foam provide a soft over-ear contact surface and can be replaced.

The SRH1540 fits easily into a home, studio, portable, or desktop wired listening setup with a 3.5 mm headphone connection. A threaded 6.35 mm adapter is included for equipment with a larger headphone jack, such as many headphone amplifiers and audio interfaces. Two detachable dual-exit cables, replacement ear pads, and a hard storage case support long-term use and straightforward replacement of wear items.

Design & Installation

The SRH1540 uses an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy yoke and carbon-fiber earcup cap in a lightweight 286 g design, excluding cable. Its steel driver frame uses a vented center pole piece, while the padded dual-frame headband is fully adjustable. The replaceable ear pads combine Alcantara material with low-density, slow-recovery foam.

Connect the included dual-exit cable to the earcups by matching the left and right markings; the right-side connector is red. Attach the 3.5 mm plug to a compatible headphone output, or install the included threaded 6.35 mm adapter when using a 1/4-inch jack. The MMCX cable connections are intended for storage or replacement, so pull connectors straight apart without twisting or pulling on the cable itself.
