The Fender Player II Precision Bass 0140470500 is a right-handed, four-string electric bass finished in 3-Color Sunburst. It provides the direct, fundamental-forward voice associated with a split-coil Precision Bass design. It is suited to players who want a straightforward passive bass for rehearsal, recording, performance, or a first serious instrument.
An alder solid body and Player Series Alnico 5 split single-coil pickup form the core of its sound. The pickup is designed to deliver clear upper frequencies, present midrange, and substantial low end through a bass amplifier or recording interface. Master volume and master tone controls keep adjustments simple while allowing the player to shape output level and treble response.
The maple neck uses a Modern "C" profile with a satin urethane finish on its back and a gloss urethane headstock face. Its slab rosewood fingerboard has rolled edges, a 9.5-inch radius, and 20 medium-jumbo frets. This combination gives players a familiar full-scale bass layout with room for standard fretting techniques and expressive playing.
Its 34-inch scale length, synthetic bone nut, and standard open-gear tuners support conventional long-scale bass string setups. The 4-saddle bridge uses single-groove steel barrel saddles, allowing individual saddle-height and intonation adjustment. A single-action head-adjust truss rod provides neck-relief adjustment when performed with the appropriate setup knowledge.
The Player II Precision Bass works as a dependable foundation for a bass rig built around an amplifier, DI box, pedalboard, or audio interface. Its passive electronics connect to typical instrument-level 1/4-inch bass cables and do not require a battery. Players can use it as supplied or pair it with a compatible hardshell case or gig bag for transport.
Key Features
- Player Series Alnico 5 Pickup: Split-coil design provides the bass's passive Precision-style voice.
- Contoured Alder Body: Solid alder construction gives the instrument its classic body platform.
- Slab Rosewood Fingerboard: Rolled edges and a 9.5-inch radius support comfortable fretting.
- Modern "C" Maple Neck: A familiar profile with a satin-finished neck back.
- 4-Saddle Standard Bridge: Individual steel saddles allow setup and intonation adjustment.
- Open-Gear Tuners: Standard open-gear machines provide conventional bass-string tuning control.
Design & Installation
This bass combines an alder Precision Bass body with a maple neck, slab rosewood fingerboard, nickel/chrome hardware, and a 3-ply black/white/black pickguard. The body has a gloss polyester finish, while the neck has satin urethane on the back and gloss urethane on the headstock face. Its neck is secured with a four-bolt standard construction and an "F" logo neck plate.
For use, fit the bass with its installed strings or compatible long-scale replacements, tune with the open-gear machines, and connect a standard instrument cable to a bass amplifier, DI, pedalboard, or interface. Saddle height, intonation, and neck relief can be adjusted during a proper bass setup using the specified hex tools. A Classic Series Precision/Jazz Bass wood hardshell case or FB1225 electric bass gig bag is recommended separately for transport.
