The included Beta 87A capsule is voiced for close-miked vocals, with a controlled low-frequency roll-off to help manage proximity effect. Its supercardioid pickup pattern helps reduce unwanted off-axis sound while supporting useful gain before feedback in live sound applications. The condenser design delivers detailed vocal reproduction across its 50 Hz to 20 kHz capsule frequency response.

SLX-D digital wireless technology provides 24-bit, 48 kHz audio and a 118 dB system dynamic range. A typical line-of-sight operating range is up to 100 m (328 ft), although actual range depends on RF conditions, interference, and physical obstructions.

Its aluminum housing keeps the handheld transmitter suitable for regular stage and presentation use. It operates for up to 8 hours on two AA batteries and also accepts the optional Shure SB903 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The SLXD2 handheld transmitter uses an aluminum housing and an integrated single-band helical antenna. Its Beta 87A capsule uses an electret condenser element, supercardioid pattern, internal pop filtering, and a shock-mounted cartridge design intended to reduce handling noise. The transmitter measures 37.1 mm in diameter by 176 mm long and weighs 147 g.

This transmitter is not a complete wireless system and requires a Shure SLX-D receiver in the same H55 band. Install two AA batteries or an optional SB903 rechargeable battery, then use the receiver's scan function and IR sync process to assign and transfer a compatible frequency.
