The Shure GLXD2+/SM58=-Z3 is a digital wireless handheld transmitter with an integrated SM58 vocal microphone capsule. It is designed as a replacement or expansion transmitter for Shure GLX-D+ Dual Band Digital Wireless systems, with a compatible receiver required for operation. This configuration suits vocalists, presenters, houses of worship, educators, and event-production users who need a handheld wireless microphone.

The integrated SM58 capsule provides the familiar vocal-mic format used for close-miked speech and singing. Its handheld design keeps the microphone and wireless transmitter in one unit, helping performers move freely without a microphone cable. The transmitter delivers digital audio through a linked GLX-D+ receiver rather than directly to a mixer or speaker.

GLX-D+ Dual Band technology operates in the license-free 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz ranges supported by the Z3 version. The system can scan available spectrum and use a clean operating channel, while automatic frequency management monitors for interference. This helps simplify wireless setup in changing RF environments.

Power comes from the included Shure SB904 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The transmitter can be charged through its USB-C port or by using a compatible GLX-D+ receiver charging bay. A 15-minute charge provides up to 1.5 hours of use, while a full charge supports up to 11.5 hours of operation in 5.8 GHz mode.

This transmitter is intended for the current GLX-D+ platform and is not compatible with original GLX-D or GLX-D Advanced receivers. It can be paired with compatible tabletop, half-rack, or guitar-pedal GLX-D+ receiver options to build a system suited to portable performances, installed sound, or presentation setups. For multi-receiver rack systems, compatible GLX-D+ frequency-management hardware can be added separately.

Design & Installation

The GLXD2+ handheld transmitter uses an aluminum-alloy and ABS-plastic housing. At 9.69 inches long, it maintains a conventional handheld vocal-microphone form factor while incorporating the transmitter electronics, internal dual-band antenna system, status LED, power switch, link button, USB-C charging port, and removable battery compartment.

Pair the transmitter with a compatible GLX-D+ receiver before use, then connect that receiver's audio output to a mixer, amplifier, recorder, or PA system. Install the included SB904 battery, fully charge it before first use, and keep the receiver positioned with a practical line of sight to the performer. The transmitter cannot pass RF or audio while connected to its charging cable.
