Mogami GOLD STAGE-50 50 Ft XLR Microphone Cable $194.95
Bundle total: $883.95

The Shure BLX188/CVL-H9 is a dual-channel wireless lavalier system for two presenters, speakers, instructors, or performers. It combines a BLX88 tabletop receiver, two BLX1 bodypack transmitters, and two CVL cardioid lavalier microphones. The system removes the restriction of wired microphones while keeping two independent wireless audio channels available from one receiver.

This configuration is suited to presentations, classrooms, worship services, interviews, meeting spaces, and small event sound systems where two people need hands-free microphones. Each CVL microphone clips to clothing for discreet placement, while each presenter wears a separate BLX1 transmitter. The H9 version operates in the 512–542 MHz UHF frequency band, so local spectrum authorization should be confirmed before use.

The CVL microphones use electret condenser elements and a cardioid pickup pattern intended for speech. Their directional pattern helps reduce pickup of sound arriving away from the front of the microphone. Supplied windscreens help reduce breath noise, wind noise, and plosive sounds during close speech use.

Shure's BLX platform uses group and channel selection to help locate an available operating channel. The BLX88 receiver provides separate controls and displays for its two wireless channels, plus audio and ready-status indicators. The system is rated for up to 300 feet of line-of-sight operating range, although actual range depends on RF conditions, obstacles, reflections, and interference.

For integration with a PA system, powered speaker, mixer, or amplifier, the BLX88 provides individual XLR and 1/4-inch audio outputs for its two channels. Each BLX1 bodypack runs on two AA alkaline batteries for up to 14 hours under typical conditions. As needs change, the BLX wireless platform supports alternate compatible microphone options using the appropriate BLX transmitter and frequency band.

Key Features

  • Dual-Channel Wireless Operation: Supports two independent bodypack-and-lavalier microphone channels from one receiver.
  • H9 UHF Frequency Band: Operates from 512 to 542 MHz; verify local authorization before use.
  • CVL Cardioid Lavalier Microphones: Provides hands-free speech pickup with reduced off-axis sound capture.
  • BLX88 Dual Receiver: Offers dedicated controls, displays, and outputs for both wireless channels.
  • Group and Channel Scan: Helps simplify selection of an available wireless operating channel.
  • AA Battery Power: Each BLX1 transmitter can operate up to 14 hours on two alkaline AA batteries.

Design & Installation

The BLX88 receiver and BLX1 bodypack transmitters use molded ABS housings designed for portable sound and presentation work. The compact bodypacks include a belt clip, power switch, group and channel controls, display, antenna, battery compartment, and adjustable audio gain. The CVL microphones use a small clip-on format with a 1.3 m cable and TA4F connector.

Place the BLX88 receiver where its internal antennas have a clear path toward the presenters, then connect its individual XLR or 1/4-inch outputs to separate mixer or sound-system inputs. Install two AA batteries in each BLX1, connect each CVL microphone, and set each transmitter to match its assigned receiver channel. Position each lavalier approximately 6–10 inches from the speaker's mouth and use the supplied windscreen; keep the receiver and transmitters within the stated line-of-sight operating range when practical.
