The sE Electronics V3 is a wired handheld dynamic microphone designed for vocals, speech, and close-miking instruments. Its cardioid pickup pattern focuses on the intended source while helping reduce pickup from surrounding stage sound. It is a practical choice for performers, rehearsal spaces, live venues, and home recording setups that use standard XLR microphone inputs.
The V3 is voiced for a smooth, natural presentation across voices and instruments. Its 50 Hz–16 kHz frequency range supports clear vocal reproduction while also making it suitable for sources such as electric-guitar cabinets, brass, percussion, snare, toms, and overhead use. The cardioid pattern can help provide useful gain before feedback when the microphone and PA system are positioned appropriately.
A custom-developed dynamic element uses a copper voice coil and neodymium magnet. This moving-coil design is housed in a rugged all-metal body intended for regular handling in performance and rehearsal environments. The 600-ohm output is delivered through a 3-pin male XLR connector for use with compatible microphone cables and audio equipment.
For handheld use, the V3 incorporates a patented integrated shockmount that decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration. This construction is designed to reduce handling noise and low-frequency rumble that can reach the signal when the microphone is moved. An internal windscreen also helps reduce wind noise and vocal plosives.
The microphone is built around a zinc-alloy chassis with a beveled spring-steel grille. The beveled grille helps keep the microphone from rolling when set down, while the all-metal construction is suited to stage and studio use. It includes the core accessories needed to mount and carry the microphone, making it easy to add to an XLR-based mixer, audio interface, or microphone preamp setup.
Key Features
- Dynamic Cardioid Capsule: Focuses pickup on the source while reducing surrounding stage bleed.
- 50 Hz–16 kHz Response: Supports vocals, speech, and a range of close-miked instruments.
- Integrated Shockmount: Helps reduce vibration, rumble, and handling noise during use.
- Internal Windscreen: Helps control wind noise and vocal plosive sounds.
- All-Metal Construction: Zinc-alloy body and spring-steel grille suit regular stage handling.
- 3-Pin XLR Output: Connects to compatible microphone cables, mixers, interfaces, and preamps.
Design & Installation
The V3 uses an all-metal zinc-alloy chassis and a beveled spring-steel mesh grille. Its grille is designed to resist dents and corrosion, while the gold-plated XLR connector is intended for dependable signal contact. At 181 mm long and 52 mm in diameter, it has the familiar form factor of a handheld stage microphone.
Connect the V3’s 3-pin male XLR output to a compatible XLR microphone cable, then route the cable to a mixer, audio interface, or microphone preamp with a microphone input. For vocal use, point the front of the cardioid capsule toward the performer and keep PA loudspeakers in front of the microphone rather than behind it. The included mic clip and thread adapter support stand mounting, while the spare black internal windscreen and carrying pouch support setup and transport.

No. sE Electronics lists live vocals, electric-guitar cabinets, brass, percussion, snare, cymbals/overheads, toms, clubs, arenas, and rehearsal spaces among its recommended uses.
What is included with the microphone?
The package includes the V3 microphone, a microphone clip, a thread adapter, a spare black internal windscreen, and a carrying pouch. The microphone is supplied with a red internal windscreen installed.
