sE Electronics V PACK VENUE STANDARD Drum Mic Kit

The sE Electronics V PACK VENUE STANDARD is a four-microphone drum close-miking kit for live sound, rehearsal spaces, and studio recording. It supplies the core microphones needed for kick drum, snare, and tom capture when you already have overhead microphones or do not need separate cymbal mics. The set includes one V KICK, two V BEAT microphones, one V7 X, two V CLAMP mounts, and a protective V CASE.

This package is suited to drummers, engineers, and venues that need a compact, repeatable drum-miking setup. The V KICK is voiced for bass drum and other low-frequency sources, while the two V BEAT microphones cover toms or snare. The V7 X adds another dynamic microphone option for snare, guitar cabinets, brass, and other instruments.

All three microphone types use supercardioid pickup patterns to focus on the intended source and help reduce pickup from nearby drums, cymbals, and stage sound. The V KICK reaches down to 20 Hz and uses selectable Classic and Modern voicing options for its overall tone and high-frequency character. The V BEAT and V7 X each cover 30 Hz to 19 kHz for detailed close-miking applications.

The V BEAT uses a low-profile housing with an integrated swivel arrangement, helping keep the microphone and its XLR cable close to the drum. Its angle can be adjusted to aim at different areas of a drum head, allowing practical tone and bleed control. The V KICK also has an integrated swivel joint for positioning inside or outside a kick drum.

For an expandable drum-miking system, the V PACK VENUE STANDARD pairs naturally with separately owned small-diaphragm condenser overhead microphones such as sE7 or sE8 models. The included V CASE has fitted space for the supplied equipment and room for three additional microphones. This makes the kit a practical foundation for a close-mic setup that can grow with a larger drum or recording rig.

Design & Installation

The microphones use dynamic capsules with aluminum voice coils and neodymium magnets. V KICK and V BEAT models have compact bodies with integrated swivel positioning, while the V7 X uses all-metal construction, a stainless spring-steel mesh grille, and gold-plated XLR contacts. The V CASE uses fitted internal foam to organize the supplied microphones and accessories.

Connect each microphone to a compatible 3-pin XLR microphone input with a recommended load impedance above 1 kOhm. Mount the V BEAT microphones to tom or snare rims with the supplied V CLAMP mounts, then use the clamp and microphone swivel adjustments to aim them at the desired drum-head area. Position the V KICK inside or outside the bass drum as needed, and use the V7 X on snare or another instrument source with its included stand clip and thread adapter.
