Roland TD-07DMK Electronic Drum Kit

The Roland TD-07DMK is a compact electronic drum kit designed for home practice, learning, and computer-based music production. It provides a complete pad-and-module setup for players who need drum sounds and responsive playing without the volume of an acoustic kit. Its compact rack format helps it fit into smaller practice spaces.

The kit uses an 8-inch PDX-8 mesh snare and three 6.5-inch PDX-6A mesh tom pads. These double-ply, tension-adjustable mesh heads provide adjustable stick response while reducing pad noise during practice. The PDX-8 snare supports separate head and rim triggering, while the PDX-6A tom pads are single-zone.

At the center of the system is the TD-07 sound module, which includes 50 drum kits and 143 instruments. Players can work with acoustic, electronic, and percussion sounds, then adjust pad EQ, ambience, room settings, and multi-effects. The module also includes a metronome and five Coach modes for structured timing practice.

Bluetooth audio lets you stream music or lesson audio from a compatible phone, tablet, or computer through the module. Bluetooth MIDI over Low Energy is also supported for use with compatible music apps. A USB computer connection carries MIDI and audio for recording or triggering software instruments.

The TD-07DMK includes a KD-2 kick pad, three CY-5 cymbal pads, a hi-hat control pedal, and a four-post rack stand. A separately purchased kick pedal, drum throne, headphones or monitor, and drumsticks are needed to complete a playable setup. The system can also be expanded with an additional compatible crash cymbal and mounting arm.

Design & Installation

The TD-07DMK is built around a four-post metal rack with clamps for positioning the module, pads, cymbals, and kick pad. Its playing surfaces include double-ply mesh heads on the snare and tom pads, while the three CY-5 pads serve as hi-hat, crash, and ride. The rack-mounted KD-2 kick pad is designed to work with a separately purchased kick pedal.

Assembly requires connecting the included special cable harness from the rack pads to the TD-07 module, attaching a compatible kick pedal, and connecting headphones or powered monitoring to the stereo OUTPUT/PHONES jack. The included hi-hat control pedal provides open-to-closed control, including half-open detection. For recording or app use, connect by USB or pair a compatible Bluetooth device; USB audio requires Vendor driver mode and Roland's dedicated driver.
