RØDE RCV-B RØDECaster Video Production Console

The RØDE RØDECaster Video is an integrated video switcher, audio interface, recorder and streaming console for multi-camera productions. It brings video switching, audio mixing and production controls into one desktop unit, reducing the need to manage separate switching and audio devices. It is suited to video podcasts, live streams, interviews, presentations and other productions that need coordinated video and sound.

Four HDMI inputs and two USB-C UVC video inputs allow the console to manage up to six simultaneous video feeds. Dedicated input and scene buttons provide direct switching, while configurable HDMI outputs can feed preview, program, multiview or individual input views. Built-in frame-rate conversion on every HDMI and USB input helps integrate compatible sources operating at different supported frame rates.

Audio is handled through two Neutrik combo inputs with high-gain Revolution Preamps, plus wireless, HDMI, Bluetooth and USB audio sources. The mixer can manage nine stereo channels simultaneously from up to 20 possible sources. Per-channel APHEX processing includes EQ, compression, noise gating, high-pass filtering, de-essing, Aural Exciter and Big Bottom processing for controlled, adaptable voice and program audio.

The RØDECaster Video is built around scene-based production, with seven custom scenes available for layouts such as picture-in-picture and split screen. It also supports two media players, graphic overlays, downstream keyers and green- or blue-screen chroma keying. Inspect mode lets the operator preview and configure an input or scene before putting it on program.

For live and recorded workflows, the console can stream through Ethernet or Wi-Fi using RTMP or RTMPS and record to an external exFAT USB storage device. Program recordings use H.264/AVC MP4 with embedded AAC stereo audio, while ISO recording can capture six inputs plus the program feed as separate files at up to 1080p30. USB connectivity also supports computer audio, multichannel audio output and UVC video output for software-based production workflows.

Design & Installation

The RØDECaster Video is a compact desktop production console measuring 305.9 mm wide, 132.5 mm deep and 61.4 mm high. RØDE does not publish a specific enclosure-material specification, but the design combines dedicated scene, input, media, overlay, multisource and keying controls with a touchscreen and rotary encoders. Its 1,257 g chassis is intended for a production desk, control position or mobile studio setup.

Connect cameras or other HDMI sources to HDMI 1 through 4, and connect compatible UVC video devices to USB-C ports 4 and 5. Use HDMI outputs A and B for program, preview or multiview monitoring; connect microphones or instruments through the two combo inputs and headphones or monitor speakers through the 1/4-inch outputs. The included USB-C power supply, two external antennas and SuperSpeed USB-C to USB-C cable support initial setup, while external exFAT USB storage is required for recording.
