JVC KD-X280BT Single DIN Digital Media Receiver

The JVC KD-X280BT is a Single DIN digital media receiver for drivers who want modern phone connectivity and flexible music playback without a CD mechanism. It combines AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, front USB, and a front auxiliary input in a compact short-chassis design. Its detachable faceplate adds a practical layer of security when the vehicle is parked.

Built-in Bluetooth supports hands-free calls and wireless audio streaming, while two phones can remain connected full time. The included wired microphone supports clearer call placement, and compatible phones can use voice dialing. JVC Streaming DJ also allows up to five Bluetooth audio devices to be connected for shared music control.

The built-in amplifier delivers 22 watts RMS per channel across four channels at less than 1% THD, with a 50-watt maximum output rating per channel. A 13-band graphic equalizer, 11 EQ presets, bass boost, loudness control, K2 processing, and digital time alignment provide useful sound-shaping tools. High-pass and low-pass filters help tailor the system when using full-range speakers and a subwoofer.

For personal music libraries, the front USB port works with mass-storage devices and supports MP3, WMA, WAV, and FLAC files. FLAC playback is supported up to 24-bit/96 kHz, while the USB port supplies up to 1.5 amps for device charging. Design & Installation

The KD-X280BT uses a compact black chassis with a detachable faceplate, white VA LCD display, and red key illumination. Auto dimming and brightness control help adapt the display for daytime and nighttime use, while Music Sync Effect changes illumination patterns with the music. The unit is a mechless digital media receiver and does not play CDs.

Installation requires a 12-volt negative-ground vehicle and a Single DIN radio opening. Use a vehicle-specific wiring harness and dash kit as needed, and connect the supplied microphone for Bluetooth calling; a third-party interface is required to retain compatible steering-wheel controls. The rear/subwoofer-selectable RCA preout can feed an external amplifier, while the built-in amplifier is designed for 4- to 8-ohm speakers.
