The Jackson JS Series Spectra Bass JS3V is a right-handed 5-string electric bass built for players who want extended low-end range in a modern, comfortable platform. Its 35-inch scale length supports a tight, responsive low B string while retaining familiar electric-bass playability. The Silverburst finish, black nickel hardware, and offset Spectra Bass body give it a distinctive stage-ready appearance.

A poplar body and bolt-on maple neck form the core of this instrument’s construction. The enlarged upper horn is designed to help distribute the bass’s weight and reduce neck dive during longer playing sessions. Its satin-finished maple neck uses a scarf-joint construction and a speed neck contour for a smooth playing feel.

The JS3V uses two Jackson medium-output humbucking pickups in an HH configuration. A blend control lets players balance the neck and bridge pickups, while a two-way toggle switch provides pickup coil splitting. This layout supports a broad range of sounds without requiring external pickup changes.

Its onboard active 3-band EQ provides bass, mid, and treble adjustment when the active circuit is engaged. The volume control includes a push/pull selector that switches between active and passive operation, allowing the bass to continue producing sound if battery power is unavailable. This makes the JS3V practical for players who want onboard tone shaping with a passive fallback option.

The bound laurel fingerboard has a 12-16 inch compound radius, 24 jumbo frets, and white dot position inlays. A Jackson HiMass bridge and sealed die-cast tuning machines support stable setup and tuning. It is well suited to a bass amp, recording interface, or pedal-based bass rig where a five-string range and flexible onboard controls are useful.

Design & Installation

The JS3V combines a gloss poplar Spectra Bass body with a satin maple neck, white binding, black pickup covers, and black nickel hardware. Its bolt-on neck has a scarf joint, while the 3-over/2-under Jackson headstock complements the five-string layout. The body has no pickguard and uses standard strap buttons.

As an electric bass, the JS3V should be connected to a compatible bass amplifier, DI, recording interface, or effects chain using an appropriate instrument cable. Set pickup blend, coil-split switching, and active EQ controls to suit the amplifier or recording setup; pull the volume knob to bypass the active circuit when needed. Jackson includes a saddle-height wrench and truss-rod wrench for setup adjustments.
