The Fender Rumble 40 V3 is a compact solid-state bass combo amplifier built around a 40-watt power section and a single 10-inch Fender Special Design speaker. It gives bass players an all-in-one practice, rehearsal, and small-performance solution without requiring a separate amplifier head and speaker cabinet. The 120V version is designed for use with compatible North American power service.

This amplifier suits players who want straightforward bass controls with useful tone-shaping options in a portable enclosure. Its single channel accommodates passive or active basses through a 1/4-inch instrument input, while gain and master controls help set the input level and overall volume. A four-band EQ provides Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid, and Treble adjustment for adapting to different instruments and rooms.

The Rumble 40 V3 pairs a clean bass foundation with switchable overdrive for added harmonic texture. Separate Drive and Level controls let the player set the amount and volume of the overdriven sound. Bright, Contour, and Vintage voicing switches provide quick changes in presence, midrange emphasis, and darker compressed character.

Its integrated 10-inch, 8-ohm speaker is installed in a lightweight plywood ported cabinet. Fender specifies the combo at 18 pounds, making it easier to move between home, rehearsal spaces, and smaller stages. The amplifier also incorporates Fender Delta-Comp limiting, which increases compression and sustain as output level and playing intensity rise.

For practice and expanded routing, the Rumble 40 V3 includes an auxiliary input, a headphone output, and a balanced XLR line output with ground lift. The headphone connection automatically mutes the internal speaker, while the XLR output can feed a PA system or recording console. An optional single-button latching footswitch can remotely engage the overdrive circuit when hands-free switching is useful.

Key Features

  • 40-Watt Output: Delivers 40 watts into the combo's 8-ohm speaker load.
  • 10-Inch Special Design Speaker: Provides an integrated Fender-designed bass speaker in a compact cabinet.
  • Switchable Overdrive: Adds adjustable preamp distortion with separate Drive and Level controls.
  • Three Voicing Switches: Bright, Contour, and Vintage options quickly reshape the bass tone.
  • Balanced XLR Line Output: Connects to PA systems or recording consoles with a ground-lift option.
  • Practice Connections: Auxiliary input and speaker-muting headphone output support private practice.

Design & Installation

The Rumble 40 V3 uses a lightweight plywood cabinet with black textured vinyl covering, a silver grille cloth, and a removable grille. Its painted metal front panel, vintage-style radio knobs, red power LED, and molded plastic strap handle with nickel-plated caps complete the durable combo-amp layout. The cabinet measures 16.5 inches wide by 16.5 inches high by 12 inches deep.

Place the amplifier on a stable surface, connect a bass to the 1/4-inch input, and use the included IEC power cord with a grounded outlet matching the 120V, 60Hz rating. Connect a music player to the 1/8-inch stereo auxiliary input for practice, or use the headphone output for quiet playing; connecting headphones automatically mutes the speaker. For live reinforcement or recording, connect the XLR line output to compatible balanced equipment, and use an optional latching single-button footswitch for remote overdrive switching.
