PreSonus ERIS-STUDIO8 8" Active Studio Monitor

The PreSonus ERIS-STUDIO8 is an 8-inch, 2-way active near-field studio monitor designed for recording, mixing, production, and critical listening. It provides its own built-in biamplified power, so it connects directly to a line-level source such as an audio interface, mixer, or monitor controller. Each monitor is sold individually, allowing users to build a stereo pair or expand an existing monitoring system.

An 8-inch woven-composite low-frequency driver handles bass and lower midrange duties, while a 1.25-inch ultra-low-mass silk-dome tweeter reproduces high frequencies. The specified 35 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response gives the monitor extended low-frequency reach for an active near-field design. With 140 watts of Class AB biamplification, it is rated for up to 106 dB peak SPL at 1 meter.

The ERIS-STUDIO8 uses PreSonus' Elliptical Boundary Modeled waveguide to shape high-frequency dispersion. Its 120-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage pattern is intended to support a broad listening area while reducing reflections from a desk or console. The crossover frequency is specified at 3.5 kHz.

Room-adjustment controls help tailor the monitor to placement and listening conditions. High-frequency and mid-frequency controls each provide continuously variable adjustment of ±6 dB, while the Acoustic Space switch offers 0, -2, and -4 dB settings for boundary-related bass buildup. A selectable low-cut filter offers Flat, 80 Hz, and 100 Hz settings for integration with a subwoofer or system-specific bass management.

For system integration, the ERIS-STUDIO8 provides balanced XLR, balanced 1/4-inch TRS, and unbalanced RCA inputs. Its front-firing acoustic port supports placement flexibility, while the vinyl-laminated MDF cabinet uses internal bracing to help control enclosure resonance. An IEC power connection, selectable AC input voltage, standby mode, and built-in protection circuits support everyday studio operation.

Design & Installation

The ERIS-STUDIO8 has a black, vinyl-laminated medium-density fiberboard cabinet with a front-firing acoustic port and optimized internal bracing. Its driver complement consists of an 8-inch woven glass-fiber composite woofer and a 1.25-inch silk-dome tweeter. The enclosure measures 16.5 inches high, 9.84 inches wide, and 11.73 inches deep, and each monitor weighs 22.27 pounds.

Use one monitor for each stereo channel, connecting a line-level source with XLR, 1/4-inch TRS, or RCA cabling; do not connect more than one source to a monitor at the same time. PreSonus recommends vertical placement, positioning the tweeters at seated ear height and toeing the monitors inward toward the listening position. For reduced boundary effects, place them approximately 8 to 12 inches from walls when possible, then use the Acoustic Space setting as needed.
