Built around the Classic 8 platform, the Classic 8ss is intended for creators who need a balanced reference when tracking, editing, mixing, or producing. The monitor uses a flat-response listening mode for critical work, while onboard level adjustments help tailor its output to room placement and listening preferences. A selectable low-frequency adjustment can also add bass energy when desired.

A 1-inch textile soft-dome tweeter handles high frequencies, while an 8-inch glass aramid woofer covers the midrange and bass region. The bi-amplified Class A/B design assigns 25 watts to the tweeter and 75 watts to the woofer for 100 watts of total amplifier power. Its specified frequency response is 42.5 Hz to 28 kHz within ±3 dB.

The front-slotted bass port supports low-frequency extension while avoiding the clearance concerns of a rear-ported cabinet. With balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS inputs plus an unbalanced RCA input, the monitor can connect to common audio interfaces, mixers, computers, and DJ equipment. Only one input source should be connected to a monitor at a time.

This Scott Storch edition retains the Classic 8 monitoring configuration in a black vinyl-wrapped enclosure with a gold chrome electroplated front baffle and signature detailing. It works well as part of a matched stereo pair, with each monitor positioned vertically and aimed toward the listening position. Bottom-mounted foam isolation pads help protect the supporting surface and provide isolation.

Design & Installation

The Classic 8ss uses a 15 mm MDF cabinet with high-impact polystyrene construction, a black vinyl wrap, and a gold chrome electroplated front baffle. Its vertical enclosure houses the tweeter, woofer, front port, rear-panel controls, power indicator, and IEC AC inlet. The cabinet has no grille and no mounting points.

For stereo monitoring, use two matched units placed about 3 to 5 feet apart and aimed inward at roughly 60 degrees to form an equilateral triangle with the listening position. Position the acoustic axis near ear level, connect one source per monitor, and use balanced XLR or TRS connections with an audio interface or mixer when available. Set the HF and LF controls flat initially, then make small adjustments for room placement; an AC power cord is provided, but audio cables are not included.
