The KRK CL7G3-NA Classic 7 is a self-powered two-way professional studio monitor built for nearfield listening, music production, mixing, editing, and content creation. Its integrated amplification eliminates the need to match the speaker with a separate external power amp. This makes it a practical choice for desktop studios, production rooms, DJ setups, and audio workstations that need a dedicated reference monitor.

A 7-inch glass aramid woofer and 1-inch textile soft-dome tweeter deliver the Classic 7's two-way design. The monitor is tuned for a flat listening mode intended to support critical decisions while mixing and balancing recordings. Its frequency response extends from 47.5 Hz to 34.5 kHz within the stated ±3 dB range, with deeper low-frequency extension available within its -10 dB range.

Custom bi-amplified Class A/B power supplies 48 watts to the low-frequency driver and 25 watts to the high-frequency driver, for 73 watts total. This dedicated amplification approach pairs each driver with its own amplifier channel. The monitor is specified for a maximum peak level of 106 dB SPL.

Room placement can substantially affect a monitor's tonal balance, especially in the bass range. The Classic 7 includes separate low- and high-frequency adjustment controls so users can tailor its output for room acoustics and listening preference. A selectable +2 dB low-frequency setting supports the KRK Bass Boost option, while the front-firing port helps accommodate placement nearer to a wall.

For connection flexibility, the Classic 7 accepts balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS sources as well as unbalanced RCA sources. It can connect directly to an audio interface, mixer, computer output, or compatible DJ equipment, using one source connection at a time. Add a second Classic 7 for a conventional left/right monitoring setup, then level-match the two monitors for consistent stereo listening.

Design & Installation

The Classic 7 uses a 15 mm MDF enclosure with high-impact polystyrene components and a black vinyl-wrap finish. Its cabinet incorporates a front bass port, rear-panel controls, an IEC AC inlet, and a foam isolation pad. The monitor measures 11.40 inches high by 8.90 inches wide by 13.07 inches deep and weighs 18.5 pounds.

Connect one audio source at a time: use balanced XLR or 1/4-inch TRS from an audio interface or mixer, or RCA for an unbalanced source. The supplied AC power cord connects to the IEC power inlet; audio cables are not included. For stereo monitoring, position a matched pair about 3 to 5 feet apart, angle them about 60 degrees toward the listening position, and aim the acoustic axis toward ear level.
