PreSonus ERIS-3-5 3.5" Powered Studio Monitors

The PreSonus Eris 3.5 is a compact pair of powered, two-way media reference monitors designed for desktop listening, home recording, gaming, and content creation. Because amplification is built into the active speaker, the pair connects directly to compatible line-level sources without a separate power amplifier. It provides a practical nearfield-monitor solution where space is limited but clear stereo playback matters.

Each pair uses 50 watts of Class AB dual amplification, divided into 25 watts for the low-frequency section and 25 watts for the high-frequency section. The 3.5-inch woven glass-fiber composite woofer is paired with a 1-inch ultra-low-mass silk-dome tweeter for a measured 80 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. With a peak SPL rating of 98 dB at 1 meter, the Eris 3.5 is suited to personal workspaces and small listening areas.

The Eris 3.5 is built for listeners who need a more controlled desktop setup than typical computer speakers provide. Its 2.8 kHz crossover helps divide bass and treble duties between the dedicated drivers. The silk-dome tweeter is intended to provide smooth high-frequency reproduction, while the woven-composite woofer handles the lower range.

PreSonus includes continuously variable high- and low-frequency Acoustic Tuning controls to help adapt the monitor response to desk placement and room conditions. The high-frequency control operates around 10 kHz, while the low-frequency control operates around 100 Hz; each provides adjustment from -6 dB to +6 dB. These controls allow practical tonal changes without adding external processing equipment.

Connection options include balanced 1/4-inch TRS, unbalanced RCA, and a front-panel 1/8-inch stereo input for line-level devices. A front-panel headphone output is controlled by the monitor volume knob and mutes the speakers when headphones are connected. The pair can serve as a standalone desktop system or as the monitor portion of a compact production, gaming, or media-playback setup.

Design & Installation

The Eris 3.5 uses vinyl-laminated medium-density fiberboard cabinets and is supplied as one active speaker plus one passive speaker. Each cabinet measures 8.27 inches high, 5.53 inches wide, and 6.46 inches deep. The pair weighs 6.83 pounds and includes foam feet to help improve desktop isolation.

Place the monitors as a left-right stereo pair at listening height, then connect the passive speaker to the active speaker with the included bare-wire speaker cable, matching positive and negative terminals. Connect a line-level source to the TRS, RCA, or front 1/8-inch input, and use the volume and Acoustic Tuning controls to set listening level and tonal balance. For cleaner connections from an audio interface or mixer, use the balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs when available.
