The PreSonus Eris 4.5BT is a compact pair of powered media reference monitors designed for desktop listening, home content creation, gaming, and near-field music work. It combines a dedicated active speaker with a passive companion speaker, so no separate stereo amplifier is required. This format provides a practical upgrade from typical computer speakers while retaining flexible wired and wireless source options.

Each monitor uses a 4.5-inch woven glass-fiber composite low-frequency driver and a 1-inch ultra-low-mass silk-dome tweeter. The system is specified for a 70 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and up to 100 dB peak SPL at one meter. Its compact driver arrangement is intended to provide clear, balanced playback at desktop and close listening distances.

Class AB amplification provides 25 watts per speaker, or 50 watts total for the pair. The front-panel volume control adjusts the speaker level and the built-in headphone amplifier. A front headphone connection mutes the speakers for private listening without changing rear-panel wiring.

Bluetooth 5.0 provides a convenient wireless input for compatible phones, tablets, and computers. For wired gear, the active monitor includes balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, and a front 1/8-inch stereo auxiliary input. The varied connections make it suitable for an audio interface, computer, media player, or other line-level source.

High- and low-frequency Acoustic Tuning controls allow response adjustments for desk placement and room conditions. The high control operates around 10 kHz and the low control operates around 100 Hz, each with a ±6 dB range. For users who want to expand low-frequency reproduction, the Eris 4.5BT can be paired with a compatible PreSonus Eris Sub 8BT subwoofer as part of a 2.1 system.

Design & Installation

The Eris 4.5BT pair uses vinyl-laminated medium-density fiberboard cabinets in black. One speaker is active and houses the amplification, controls, power connection, and source inputs, while the other is passive. Each cabinet measures approximately 9.5 inches high, 6.4 inches wide, and 7 inches deep.

Place the active speaker on the left side of the listening position when using the standard left/right input arrangement, then connect the passive speaker with the supplied bare-wire speaker cable while matching positive and negative terminals. Connect a line-level source through balanced 1/4-inch TRS, RCA, front 1/8-inch auxiliary, or Bluetooth 5.0, then set volume and Acoustic Tuning controls for the room. The included foam feet can be fitted to the bottoms of both speakers to improve isolation on a desk or shelf.
