PreSonus ERIS-STUDIO4 4.5" Active Studio Monitor

The PreSonus Eris Studio 4 is a single 4.5-inch, 2-way active nearfield studio monitor designed for music production, recording, editing, and critical everyday listening. Its built-in biamplified power section eliminates the need for an external speaker amplifier. It is well suited to compact home studios, desktop production setups, and small mix rooms.

With a 4.5-inch woven glass-fiber composite low-frequency driver and a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter, the Eris Studio 4 is voiced for detailed monitoring across a 55 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. The 50-watt Class AB biamplified design supplies 25 watts to each driver section. Peak output is rated at 99 dB SPL at 1 meter.

PreSonus uses an Elliptical Boundary Modeled, or EBM, waveguide to shape high-frequency dispersion. Its 120-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage is intended to create a broad listening area while helping reduce early reflections from a desk or console. The 2.7 kHz crossover integrates the woofer and tweeter sections.

Room-adjustment controls help tailor the monitor to practical placement conditions. Continuously variable high- and mid-frequency controls, selectable low-cut filtering, and Acoustic Space compensation provide useful adjustment when a monitor must sit near a wall or corner. A front-firing port supports low-frequency output while allowing more flexible desk placement than a rear-ported design.

Balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS inputs support connection to an audio interface, mixer, or monitor controller, while the RCA input accommodates unbalanced sources. For stereo monitoring, use two Eris Studio 4 monitors, one for each channel. The monitor can also be incorporated into a 2.1 setup by using its low-cut control with a suitable subwoofer system.

Design & Installation

The Eris Studio 4 uses a vinyl-laminated medium-density fiberboard cabinet with optimized internal bracing and a front-firing acoustic port. Its 2-way layout combines a woven glass-fiber composite woofer with an ultra-low-mass silk-dome tweeter. The cabinet measures 10 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 7.28 inches deep, with a weight of 8.82 pounds.

Place each monitor vertically, with the tweeter at seated ear height, and angle the pair inward toward the listening position. PreSonus recommends positioning monitors 8 to 12 inches from walls when possible; use the Acoustic Space switch when placement near a wall or corner is necessary. Connect only one line-level source to each monitor at a time, use balanced cabling where available, and connect the included IEC power cable to a grounded AC outlet.
