KRK V6S4-NA 6.5" Powered Studio Reference Monitor

The KRK V6S4-NA is a single, two-way powered studio reference monitor designed for recording, mixing, mastering, and critical listening. Its self-powered design eliminates the need for a separate speaker amplifier, making it suitable for direct connection to an audio interface, monitor controller, or mixer. It is intended for nearfield monitoring in home, project, broadcast, and professional studio environments.

A 6.5-inch woven Kevlar woofer and 1-inch Kevlar dome tweeter cover the low, mid, and high-frequency ranges in one compact monitor. The shared Kevlar driver material is engineered to support a consistent presentation through the crossover region. With a published frequency response of 49 Hz to 19 kHz, the V6 Series 4 is built to reveal mix details across a broad working range.

Bi-amplified Class-D power provides separate amplification for the woofer and tweeter. The low-frequency amplifier is rated at 125 watts and the high-frequency amplifier at 30 watts, for 155 watts total. KRK specifies a peak SPL of up to 115 dB, giving the monitor useful headroom for close-range production work.

The front-ported bass-reflex cabinet helps provide placement flexibility in rooms where rear wall clearance is limited. Its DSP-driven EQ system offers 49 selectable voicings for adapting the monitor to desk placement, wall proximity, room character, and listening preference. Low, low-mid, high-mid, and high-frequency adjustments allow practical correction without adding external processing.

The V6S4-NA is sold as one powered monitor, so a conventional stereo setup requires two units. Balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS connections support integration with common studio sources. It can serve as a primary nearfield pair or as part of a multi-monitor setup where level matching and room correction are useful.

Design & Installation

The V6 Series 4 uses an MDF and aluminum enclosure with a solid aluminum front baffle. Its woofer has a cast aluminum frame, Kevlar cone, and ferrite magnet, while the tweeter uses a Kevlar dome and ferrite magnet. An EVA foam pad on the bottom helps isolate the monitor from the supporting surface, and an optional protective grille is included for driver protection.

For stereo use, install one V6S4-NA for each channel and connect each monitor to a balanced source using XLR or 1/4-inch TRS cabling. KRK recommends a nearfield arrangement with the monitors about 3 to 5 feet apart, aimed toward the listening position at approximately 60 degrees, with the acoustic axis near ear level. Begin with the EQ controls in their flat settings, then make small adjustments for desk loading, wall proximity, and room response.
