The PreSonus ERIS-5BT is a pair of compact 5.25-inch active media reference monitors for desktop listening, music production, editing, gaming, and general multimedia playback. One speaker contains the amplification and connections, while the included speaker wire links it to the passive companion speaker. This arrangement provides a practical stereo-monitor solution without requiring a separate power amplifier.

Designed for nearfield use, the ERIS-5BT combines woven-composite low-frequency drivers with 1-inch silk-dome tweeters. Its 55 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and adjustable high- and low-frequency controls help users tailor playback to a desk, shelf, or small-room listening position. The result is a balanced presentation intended for evaluating mixes as well as enjoying everyday audio.

Bluetooth 5.0 provides a convenient wireless stereo-input option for compatible phones, tablets, and computers. For wired equipment, the active speaker offers balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, and a front-panel 1/8-inch stereo Aux input. This makes it simple to connect an audio interface, computer, media player, turntable with a phono preamp, or gaming system.

The ERIS-5BT uses 100 watts of Class D dual amplification, rated at 50 watts per side. Its front-panel volume control also operates the integrated headphone amplifier, allowing a quick switch to private listening. Connecting headphones to the front 1/8-inch output automatically mutes the speakers.

For systems that need deeper bass extension, the ERIS-5BT includes a summed mono 1/4-inch subwoofer output for connection to a powered subwoofer. The speakers also include room-tuning controls and a power-saving mode that engages after 40 minutes of inactivity. These features make the pair suitable as a flexible starting point for a desktop stereo or compact 2.1 monitoring system.

Design & Installation

The ERIS-5BT pair uses vinyl-laminated medium-density fiberboard cabinets finished in black. Each monitor uses a vertical, bass-reflex cabinet design with a 5.25-inch woven-composite woofer and a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter. The package includes foam feet to help improve isolation when the speakers are placed on a desk or shelf.

Place the active and passive speakers on stable surfaces at ear level when possible, then connect them with the included bare-wire speaker cable. Connect a line-level source through Bluetooth, TRS, RCA, or the front Aux input; use balanced TRS connections with compatible audio interfaces when practical. The high- and low-frequency controls can then be adjusted for room placement and listening preference, while a powered subwoofer can be added through the summed mono subwoofer output.
