PreSonus Monitor Station V2 Desktop Studio Control Center

The PreSonus Monitor Station V2 is a desktop studio monitor controller designed to centralize source selection, speaker switching, headphone monitoring, and talkback communication. It helps replace repeated cable swapping and level adjustments with a single control point for a recording, editing, or mixing workspace. Its layout is intended for fast hands-on access during sessions.

This controller is suited to home studios, project studios, and production rooms using multiple playback sources or more than one set of powered monitors. Two balanced stereo line inputs, RCA and 1/8-inch auxiliary inputs, and a coaxial S/PDIF input accommodate common interface, mixer, media-player, and digital-source connections. The analog auxiliary inputs can be used simultaneously and balanced against each other with their individual controls.

For monitoring, the Monitor Station V2 routes selected sources to three stereo speaker-output pairs, allowing quick comparison between monitor systems or use with a powered subwoofer. A large Main level control handles speaker listening level, while Mute, Mono, and variable Dim controls support practical checks during tracking and mixing. The Main line outputs remain independent of the front-panel Main level, Mono, Mute, and Dim controls for feeding devices that require a constant source-level signal.

Four amplified headphone outputs provide individual volume controls and Main/Cue source selection for performers or collaborators. The Cue section supplies its own source selection and output-level control, and its balanced Cue outputs can feed an external headphone distribution amplifier. When Talkback is engaged, cue monitoring is reduced by 20 dB to make communication easier to hear.

An integrated electret-condenser talkback microphone supports direct communication from the control position without requiring a separate talkback mic. Dual 8-segment LED meters with peak hold provide visual input monitoring, with selectable reference levels for different studio line-level standards. The result is a dedicated monitoring hub that can grow with a studio using additional speakers, headphone distribution, or external recording equipment.

Design & Installation

The Monitor Station V2 uses a compact black desktop format with a large central monitoring-level knob and dedicated front-panel switches for source, speaker, cue, headphone, talkback, and monitor-control functions. Its control layout keeps frequently used session functions within reach while rear-panel connections keep system wiring organized. The unit measures 9 inches wide, 8.5 inches deep, and 2.5 inches high.

Connect audio interfaces or mixers to the balanced ST1 and ST2 inputs, connect powered monitors or external speaker amplifiers to Speaker A, B, and C, and use the Cue outputs for a headphone-distribution amplifier when needed. The speaker outputs are line-level connections and do not power passive speakers directly. Use the supplied external power supply, set speaker trims during calibration, and connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable when using the S/PDIF input.
