The Pioneer AVH-240EX is a Double DIN DVD RDS receiver designed for vehicles that need a touchscreen-based upgrade with disc playback, Bluetooth connectivity, and camera expandability. Its 6.2-inch WVGA resistive touchscreen brings radio, USB media, compatible smartphone functions, and auxiliary sources into one dashboard component. Built-in Bluetooth supports hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming from compatible devices. The receiver can register up to five phones and includes an external microphone for calling. For sound adjustment, the AVH-240EX uses a built-in MOSFET four-channel amplifier, 13-band graphic equalizer, DSP, and high-pass and low-pass crossover controls. Its audio settings allow the system to be tailored for factory speakers or an upgraded speaker-and-subwoofer system. Three preout sections provide front, rear, and subwoofer signal connections for external amplification.

Design & Installation

The AVH-240EX uses a fixed-face Double DIN design with a resistive touchscreen, LED backlight, and integrated DVD mechanism. Its chassis measures 7 inches wide by 3-7/8 inches high by 6-3/8 inches deep, while the nose section measures 6-3/4 inches wide by 3-7/8 inches high by 1/8 inch deep. The unit has a negative-ground electrical system and is intended for 12-volt vehicle electrical systems.

Verify Double DIN dash fitment, mounting depth, and the vehicle-specific harness and dash-kit requirements before purchase. The parking-brake lead must be connected correctly, and rear-camera integration may require a separate adapter depending on the vehicle. Remove the two transport screws before installing the receiver so its disc mechanism can operate correctly.
