KENWOOD DMX4710S 6.8" Double DIN Digital Media Receiver

The KENWOOD DMX4710S is a 6.8-inch digital multimedia receiver designed to modernize a vehicle with touchscreen control, smartphone integration, Bluetooth calling, and audio streaming. It is a practical upgrade for drivers who want access to navigation, music, calls, and messages through a centralized in-dash interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect through USB for familiar phone-based control while driving.

Its built-in amplifier delivers up to 50 watts by four channels maximum, with 22 watts by four channels of full-bandwidth power at less than 1% THD. A 13-band graphic equalizer, high-pass filter, low-pass filter, and digital time alignment provide useful tuning tools for factory-replacement speakers or a more developed aftermarket system. Front/rear preouts and a dedicated subwoofer output support expansion with external amplification.

The 6.8-inch WSVGA display uses a capacitive touch panel and 1024 x 600 resolution for responsive control and detailed on-screen information. LED backlighting, a TN LCD panel, and RGB stripe pixel arrangement support clear menu, media, and smartphone-interface viewing. The unit also plays compatible audio and video files from USB storage.

Bluetooth 5.0 provides hands-free calling and wireless music streaming, with support for common phonebook, audio streaming, and remote-control profiles. The USB Type-A connection supports USB 2.0 High Speed devices, several common file systems, and up to 2.1A charging for compatible smartphones. USB mirroring through MirrorAPP+ is available with selected compatible smartphones.

The DMX4710S is suited to vehicles needing a shallow multimedia receiver chassis while retaining a large touchscreen interface. It is iDatalink Maestro RR/RR2 ready for supported vehicle-integration upgrades, including compatibility with retained factory features on applicable vehicles. An optional rear-view camera can add adjustable parking guidelines, while an optional SiriusXM tuner can add satellite-radio capability.

Design & Installation

The DMX4710S combines a clear glass capacitive touch panel with an LED-backlit TN LCD display and a short-depth chassis. Its 6.8-inch wide screen uses a 1024 x 600 RGB-striped display with 99.99% effective pixels. The reduced chassis depth is intended to simplify placement in vehicles with limited space behind the dash.

Confirm vehicle-specific dash opening, wiring, steering-wheel-control retention requirements, and camera connections before installation. The main unit installation size without sleeve is 178 x 100 x 86 mm, and it operates from a 12V DC vehicle electrical system. Use the USB connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; iDatalink Maestro RR/RR2 hardware, a rear-view camera, SiriusXM tuner, and KCA-RCDV340 remote are optional accessories sold separately.
