KENWOOD DMX9708S Double DIN Digital Media Receiver

The KENWOOD DMX9708S is a Double DIN digital multimedia receiver designed to bring smartphone navigation, calling, music, and camera viewing to a factory-style dashboard location. Its 6.95-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen provides a central interface for connected media and vehicle-focused functions. It is suited to drivers replacing an older radio or building a more integrated aftermarket audio system.

Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto let compatible phones handle common navigation, communication, and streaming tasks through the receiver display. Bluetooth adds hands-free calling and audio streaming, while KENWOOD Music Mix can connect up to five Bluetooth devices. Wireless Android mirroring is also available for select compatible Android devices.

For sound tuning, the DMX9708S combines a 13-band graphic EQ, digital time alignment, crossover controls, and Drive EQ. Its internal amplifier is rated at 22 watts RMS per channel across four channels at less than 1% THD, with 50 watts per channel maximum output. Three 4-volt preouts support expansion with external amplifiers for speakers and subwoofers.

USB playback supports common audio and video formats, including high-resolution FLAC and WAV files up to 192 kHz/24-bit. The USB Type-C connection supports USB 2.0 High Speed operation and can supply up to 3.0 amps at 5 volts. An HDMI Type-D input provides another connection option for compatible external video devices.

The receiver supports four camera inputs for flexible front, rear, side, and compatible dash-camera configurations. Adjustable parking guidelines can be used with a compatible rear camera, and iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 integration is supported on compatible vehicles. Its 85 mm-deep chassis helps accommodate installations where dashboard space behind the radio is limited.

Design & Installation

The DMX9708S uses a clear-glass capacitive touch panel over a 6.95-inch TN LCD with a TFT active-matrix drive system and LED backlighting. Its display resolution is 800 x 480 with 1,152,000 total pixels in RGB arrangement. The short 85 mm chassis depth is intended to provide added installation flexibility behind the dashboard.

Confirm vehicle fitment before purchase, including dash opening, mounting hardware, wiring harness, antenna connection, and retention interfaces required for the specific vehicle. The main chassis measures 178 x 100 x 85 mm, and vehicle-specific adapters may be needed to retain factory steering-wheel controls, amplifier functions, or vehicle-data displays. A USB Type-C cable and USB Type-A adapter are included; cameras, SiriusXM hardware, HDMI cable, remote control, and Maestro interfaces are optional accessories.
