The Kenwood DMX1038S is a double DIN digital multimedia receiver built around a large 10.1-inch floating HD touchscreen. It modernizes a compatible vehicle with smartphone integration, Bluetooth calling and streaming, camera connectivity, and expanded audio controls. The compact receiver chassis supports installations where a conventional double DIN opening is available.

This receiver is suited to drivers who want a larger interface for navigation, calls, music, and vehicle-camera viewing without adding a separate display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly or through USB, allowing compatible phones to provide familiar app-based functions on the in-dash screen. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support the wireless connection features and everyday phone pairing.

For sound-system upgrades, the DMX1038S provides a built-in four-channel amplifier, three 4-volt preouts, a 13-band graphic EQ, digital time alignment, and selectable 2-way or 3-way crossover operation. Its USB playback section supports high-resolution audio files and sampling frequencies up to 192 kHz. These tools make it practical as a foundation for factory-speaker upgrades or for an external-amplifier system.

The 1280 x 720 capacitive-touch display uses an LED-backlit LCD panel and an optically bonded construction to reduce internal reflections. Its floating-panel mechanism adjusts for depth, height, tilt, and left-to-right position, helping the screen clear surrounding dash contours and controls. The display can also show split-screen operation with compatible Apple CarPlay or Android Auto use.

Four camera inputs expand the DMX1038S beyond a basic backup-camera receiver. It supports rear, front or dash-camera, and third-view camera connections, with HD camera compatibility at the rear and front/dash-camera inputs. HD Radio is built in, while SiriusXM operation requires a compatible optional tuner; iDatalink Maestro compatibility can add supported factory-control and vehicle-data retention when used with the appropriate interface.

Design & Installation

The DMX1038S combines a compact 178 x 50 x 158 mm chassis with a separate 10.1-inch floating monitor assembly. The LCD uses a TFT active-matrix design, LED backlighting, and an optically bonded touch/display structure. The screen position can be adjusted in depth, height, tilt, and side-to-side placement to accommodate a range of dash layouts.

Professional installation is recommended to confirm double DIN fitment, dash-panel clearance, wiring compatibility, and correct camera integration. Set the display slider position before the main unit is installed, as it cannot be changed afterward. A vehicle-specific dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adapter, steering-wheel-control interface, cameras, external amplifiers, or iDatalink Maestro module may be required depending on the vehicle and desired functions.
