JVC KW-R950BTS Double DIN CD Receiver with Bluetooth

The JVC KW-R950BTS is a double-DIN CD receiver designed for drivers who want modern phone connectivity without replacing their disc collection. It combines AM/FM radio, CD playback, front USB playback and a front auxiliary input in one dashboard-friendly unit. Built-in Bluetooth supports hands-free calling and wireless music streaming for everyday driving.

This receiver is well suited to vehicles with a double-DIN radio opening and owners who prefer physical controls over a touchscreen interface. Its 2-line VA LCD display presents source and track information with a broad viewing angle, while variable-color illumination helps coordinate the receiver with the vehicle interior. It does not offer Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or DVD playback.

Sound tuning is a central part of the KW-R950BTS design. A 13-band equalizer, digital time alignment, adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters, and selectable two-way or three-way crossover modes allow the system to be tailored to the vehicle and speaker layout. K2 Technology, Sound Response, Sound Lift, Space Enhancement and Volume Link EQ provide additional processing options for digital music and road-noise conditions.

Bluetooth V4.2 provides audio streaming, phonebook access where supported by the connected phone, and hands-free calling through HFP 1.7.1. Two phones can remain connected full-time, while JVC Streaming DJ lets up to five Bluetooth audio devices connect for taking turns with music playback. The receiver also supports Amazon Alexa functions through a compatible smartphone and the Alexa app.

The three pairs of 4-volt RCA preouts make the KW-R950BTS a practical starting point for a larger audio upgrade. Front, rear and subwoofer outputs can feed external amplifiers, while the built-in amplifier can power compatible 4- to 8-ohm speakers directly. SiriusXM readiness, JVC Remote app support, and steering-wheel-control compatibility with a separately purchased adapter add flexibility when planning a complete system.

Design & Installation

The KW-R950BTS uses a traditional double-DIN chassis with a physical volume knob, front-panel USB port, auxiliary input, CD slot, and 2-line VA LCD display. Its variable-color front-panel illumination supports two independently configurable zones, with preset colors, user color adjustment, and illumination effects. The design is intended for clear operation from the driver’s seat rather than touchscreen control.

Confirm that the vehicle accepts a double-DIN receiver before purchase; the chassis installation size is 178 × 100 × 156 mm (7 × 3-15/16 × 6-1/8 inches). Installation requires proper vehicle-specific wiring and dash hardware, and a custom wiring harness is recommended for vehicle integration. The package documentation lists a wiring harness and mounting screws; an optional SiriusXM vehicle tuner, external amplifiers, steering-wheel-control adapter, and remote control are sold separately where needed.
