The Gretsch G5655TG Electromatic Center Block Jr. is a compact semi-hollow electric guitar designed for players who want classic Gretsch styling with a more manageable body size. Its 14-inch single-cut laminated maple body provides the visual character and resonance associated with semi-hollow instruments. The Azure Metallic finish and gold hardware give it a distinctive stage-ready appearance.

This model is suited to guitarists playing blues, rockabilly, jazz, indie rock, and other amplified styles where articulation and dynamic response matter. Its chambered spruce center block helps support sustain while making the body better suited to higher-volume performance than a fully hollow design. The smaller body format also offers a comfortable option for players seeking a compact semi-hollow guitar.

Dual Black Top Broad'Tron humbucking pickups provide the G5655TG with an HH pickup layout and a broad, punchy amplified voice. A three-position toggle selects bridge, combined, or neck pickup operation. Individual pickup volume controls, master volume, and master tone provide familiar hands-on control of the guitar's output and tone.

The set maple neck uses a Thin "U" profile, 24.6-inch scale length, and 12-inch-radius laurel fingerboard. Its 22 medium-jumbo frets and lower neck set are designed to support comfortable access across the fingerboard. Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, aged-white binding, and a Graph Tech NuBone nut reinforce its traditional Gretsch-inspired presentation.

An anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge works with the Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece for expressive pitch movement. Die-cast tuners and nickel-plated .010-.046 strings complete the factory hardware and string specification. The G5655TG can serve as a primary electric guitar for an amplifier-based setup or as a semi-hollow alternative within a larger guitar collection.

Key Features

  • Compact Center Block Body: A smaller 14-inch laminated maple body combines semi-hollow character with comfortable handling.
  • Chambered Spruce Center Block: Supports sustain, dynamic resonance, and higher-volume performance.
  • Black Top Broad'Tron Pickups: Dual humbuckers provide articulate output with punch and tonal range.
  • Bigsby B70 Vibrato: Adds smooth, expressive pitch variation for chords and lead lines.
  • Anchored Adjusto-Matic Bridge: Provides a fixed bridge platform paired with the vibrato tailpiece.
  • Flexible Control Layout: Individual pickup volumes, master volume, master tone, and three-way switching enable practical tone shaping.

Design & Installation

The G5655TG has a gloss-finished laminated maple body with an arched laminated maple top, laminated maple back, and aged-white binding with black/aged-white/black purfling. Its maple set neck has a gloss finish, Thin "U" profile, aged-white binding, and laurel fingerboard. Gold hardware includes the Bigsby B70 tailpiece, bridge hardware, pickguard, and G-Arrow control knobs.

For use, connect the guitar's output to a compatible guitar amplifier or pedal chain with a standard instrument cable. The factory string set is nickel-plated steel in .010-.046 gauges; changes in string gauge or playing preference may require a professional setup of the nut, bridge, neck relief, and intonation. A case or gig bag is optional, with Gretsch listing compatible optional bag and case models.
