Jackson CBX IV 4-String Electric Bass Guitar

The Jackson X Series Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CBX IV is a four-string solidbody electric bass designed for articulate, high-output performance. Its Concert Bass body shape and contoured design support a comfortable playing position for practice, rehearsal, recording, and live use. The Quicksilver finish, black hardware, and signature appointments give it a distinctly Jackson presentation.

This bass is suited to players who want a fast-feeling instrument with flexible pickup blending and onboard tone shaping. A 34-inch scale length provides the familiar feel and string tension used by many standard four-string basses. The bolt-on maple neck uses graphite reinforcement and a scarf joint for added stability.

Two EMG HZ35 dual-coil humbucking pickups provide the foundation of the CBX IV's sound. The passive pickups use ceramic magnets and are paired with an active three-band EQ for bass, middle, and treble adjustment. A volume control and blend control make it easy to move between neck-focused warmth, bridge-focused definition, or a mix of both.

The 12-inch to 16-inch compound-radius laurel fingerboard becomes flatter higher on the neck, supporting both lower-register grooves and more technical upper-register work. Its 21 jumbo frets, 1.625-inch nut width, and pearloid sharkfin inlays complete the playing surface. Nickel-plated steel .045-.105 gauge strings are factory specified.

A Jackson HiMass bridge and sealed die-cast tuning machines form the bass's core hardware package. The fixed bridge is intended to provide a direct, stable string path, while the four-in-line headstock keeps all tuning machines on one side. Use the CBX IV with a bass amplifier, DI, or recording interface that accepts a standard instrument-level bass signal.

Design & Installation

The CBX IV has a gloss Quicksilver solidbody with ergonomic contours, a maple bolt-on neck, white neck binding, and a pointed Jackson four-in-line headstock. Pearloid sharkfin inlays, black dome-style knobs, black hardware, and a white headstock logo complement its signature styling. The bass has no pickguard and uses standard strap buttons.

For setup, connect the bass to a bass amplifier, DI box, or recording interface with a standard instrument cable. The volume and blend controls set pickup level and balance, while the active EQ adjusts bass, middle, and treble response. A truss-rod wrench is specified, but a case is sold separately; use a compatible four-string bass case or gig bag for transport.
